If you have a chance to look closely @ STEINHART Dive watches, take a closer look at the indexes as well as the hands, you'll notice that the lume applied seems to be glossy on the surface. And when you look at Seiko watches, not so much glossy, a little matt to be exact. I suspect that most european watches' lumed indexes have some kind of clear layer of coating to prevent the lume from degrading after a certain period of time or years. This is why when you put European makes along with Seiko makes under the sun, bring it back to slightly dark area, SEIKO will be much brighter than its competition...



Here's one example of lume without thick clear coating...

wow. thanks for explanation Ed Yeo, so in conclusion, lume without coating is better at night? i am a little blur here. lols. the vintage steinhart diver 200m has artifical aged dials and hands that makes it so attractive. i think rogue has one as well.

In a certain way... yeah... the clear coating sort of block a certain percentage of light to charge up the lume on european watches. While Seiko without... you may observe that their lume will not be so bright after some years of possession probably due to degrading.

But no matter which, you can't expect a charged up lume to stay bright as long as 30mins in general...

Has anyone had Mr.Goh fit a Dial onto a watch, by cutting the Dial Feet and gluing the dial to the dial holder ?



I'd really like to fit one of Yobokies 7S Dials into my 6309 :D

for those who know goh well enough. there are certain type of jobs he don't really wanna do perhaps that are rather time consuming, must understand a bit cause he got many watch repairs.



then again, there are many other watch shops out there...

this scenario has happen time and time again.



while GOh has rather good reputation, skills and prices. there are times like above, he tells ppl cant do.



due to several reasons, sometimes all or some involved



1) price and stock availability, some parts esp seiko parts is not just abt cheap, but abt getting it.

if he cant get it and sometimes buy online like us, then how much shld he charge us for it, esp when we can get the same price as him.

the effort to buy, then install and in between cant get, or wrong part.



2) time on hand vs repairs on hand.

we all know he has never ending repairs to do, in fact when near festive seasons, it become overwhelming.

supply and demand, its only right he choose jobs he can handle within his means and time to do and make a reasonable profit.

Not a job that spends him hrs and earn him less money, doesnt makes sense right....



3) relationship with him, i say this simply bcos while he has earned a good reputation here or elsewhere online.

there are still ppl who turn up 1st time expecting to enjoy the same freebies svc or special prices he has given to his regular!!!



this is not abt going to a fix price department stall to buy things and most definitely, his prices even to walk in customers have been fair or even lower than the general market.



such buy and deal relationship are build up over time and trust and eventually develop to friends as well.



last but not least, if Goh cant do it, get it done elsewhere lo



btw, i dun jump queue hor when i send him a watch repair. in fact, my always takes mths, simply cos i dun see the urgency and need and told him, do others 1st.hmm, how long has my bullhead been with him?? since cny??? :lol:

Okie... let's acknowledge that your initial rant is straight and frank. When you post the words in exact expressing your anger, you have the right to rant. No problem. But... to the others, i dunno who, as there are just too much Mr.GOH supporters here(MM GOH will be pissed why he don't have such a popularity as the K2 In-Charge... :D :D ), will have different interpretations. That's why i assumed that you might have missed out some words or punctuations in the initial posts... I'm sorry that i had really did that.



For me... KNN and CCB is just one another short forms used in our uniquely land. I know what it means if i interpret it straight, and i will be pissed, send my regards to you as well... but i don't do that.
