leather and nylon straps are plentiful but for bracelets you might want to try your luck... he may or may not have..

Interesting Encounter!
@K2 this late noon, @ abt 1745hrs... Come across a collector who made his own modification. This is originally a MM PANERAI Hommage with Chinese 6497 clone. The owner claims that he made changes to the case, which he purchased from EBAY, by moving the movement from the original MM to this brushed case. The dial's vintage look is a paint over. Dunno what had he done to the hands, but if you look closer, you'll see that the hands looks kind of "rusty" with some spots on the frame.







What i, and other SC65 brudders, Poison and XXX(whom i can't remember his nick liaoz), falls for it:

Self painted dial with correct color and texture creation that makes this piece vintage look from far,

Hands created with spots of dirt/rust that makes the piece more closer to vintage appearance,

Choice of case, that makes this piece more Military themed!



What i, personally finds a little more can be acheived...

1. If the crystal used is Acrylic(which the owner claims that he's still looking out for the correct dimension and perfect curve), after some period the crystal might turn yellowish, hence more points to Vintage look.

2. The case is fresh and new(the owner agrees that more, "tracks of war" will decorate the case well). Even though brushed, too clean for a Military piece.

3. The color of the strap perhaps doesn't blend well with the dial... something with caramel light brown should be more suitable...

Hello everyone, first I'll like to thank this forum for helping me find Mr. Goh to fix my faulty movement. It was also a great pleasure to meet the 3 gentleman at K2 who share the love for watches.



The pictured watch is my current build and it's probably only 20% done. I enjoy learning how stuff works and building watches is a fun hobby of mine. One forum I frequent is homageforum, where almost everybody is helping one another to achieve their dream builds. Was @ K2 couple of hours ago.

Saw 2 interesting piece, dunno izzit up for sale or not... betta check with Encik GOH!



1st. A roughly 38mm SS case FORTIS 2893 GMT with rotating bezel. Complete in a package with a pouch, with something like "Cosmonaut Edition" embossed, together with a Velcro Nylon Strap, a leather strap...i think original design, but the stitch seems to have some defects, and original bracelet with lug cover. Only thing seems to be missing, is a pin tool use for strap/bracelet changing.



2nd.



A larger sized approx. 40/42mm ORIS with SS case. Pictured above, the carbon strap is used to match the textured black dial, the original strap seems to be a pain in the ass in daily usage, hence kept in the bag as shown. What makes it special to me? From far, it may seems to be a 6497 movement by UNITAS, but the dial tells more detail, that this is a modified 2824 with day hand, and 60sec subdial @ 0900hrs position. Condition really very mint and clean. No sight of hair line seen!

Interesting encounter today @ K2...







This FF dial mod with the PVD watch belongs to a long time collector, who is a female member @ SGROC for a certain time. According to her, it seems that she have no idea about the presence of SCS. It's my first encounter with a female collector of mechanical watches(most of you might have the same experience with me, those female watch collectors around us, mostly falls for Quartz movt watches as they comes in many different appealing designs...), who don't find that mechanical are trouble some. Oooh... her hidden profile is even more "niche", that may draw some interest with some fellow brudders here! She have, SUMO, TUNA, SAMURAI, TRACK MONSTER, and MarineMaster if i'm not wrong... most importantly from her album, it seems that she also owns the OMEGA Chrono with moonphase @ 12oohrs position... can't remember what's the name for that!



By the way... i had chio her to join member with us... hopefully can see more of her collection soon.
