All members, please come in & introduce youselves

Re: All members, please come in & introduce youselves
Hi everyone, I am Andoy from the Philippines but I am based here in Singapore, and my first love is a Seiko 6309-7040.

When I started working in 1988, I spent my first salary on a 6309, unfortunately not on my first love but on a 7290. I still have it to this day and she is still running strong.

I arrived Singapore in 1996 and from then on I have built my small collection of Seikos and some Swiss. I collect mechanical watches, both manual winding and automatic. I am more on diver's watches though I also have a couple of pilot watches.

First up, the Swiss:

Panerai Luminor Marina PAM 00111

Fortis Pilot's Professional Automatic Chronograph (Valjoux 7750)

Sinn 142ST Automatic Space Chronograph (Lemania 5100)

Now the Seikos:

6105-8119

6309-7040

6309-7290

7002-700J

Seiko 5 SNZF17K1 "Sea Urchin"

Seiko 5 SKZ231K "Map Meter"

Prospex Marine Master SBDX011 "Emperor Tuna"

That's it for now.

Cheers!

Re: All members, please come in & introduce youselves
Hi guys, long time lurker here and first time posting.

Id like to start off by saying this is really a nice site with lots of information and friendly advice.

I started my love of watches at 4 yrs old. I couldnt even tell time yet. I think i liked them because they made you look "grown up". My parents wouldnt get me a watch until i could tell time. It took me a year to become fluent in "horocryptography".(Remember, they didnt have digital clocks back then)

I recieved my first watch, a Timex, on Christmas day, 1969.

I have worn a watch on my wrist almost every single day since that day.

Ive never been rich, and probably never will be, so my choice in watches is probably pale in comparison to most of you guy's collections. But rest assured my love of watches is just as deep as yours.

Through out the years my taste in watches has changed slightly, but i am still facinated by the little machines you wear on your wrist.

Re: All members, please come in & introduce youselves
Hi All,

New here.. but think maybe not new to watch collections...

Currently, eyeing MM300... chio watch... just that, got family, hard to convince myself to commit over 2000+ for a watch anymore... sigh...
Re: All members, please come in & introduce youselves
Hi,

This is my 1st post. Just registered yesterday. I don't own a Seiko yet. But my journey started when I decided to get a dress watch after many years on wearing cheapo digital Casio watch. Naturally began to look at the Casio Edifice series, and as I research more, I've also look at Seiko, and found my way here. I don't own a Seiko yet, or any dress watch, still procrastinating.

I notice diver watch seem to be popular choice for Seiko collectors. Seems like a choice made by most to begin this hobby.

hello hello!, discovered this wonderful website by chance while looking for a site where i could purchase a nice starter seiko divers, plus i have friends who have some nice timepieces which after listening to them endlessly discussing about the next timepiece to get, one thing led to another, i started reading and looking at the different watches out there and have grown pretty fond of quite a few.

my daily beater is nothing to shout about, a regular casio g-shock mud resist. Also i have in my drawer a nice (but not working) brietling which was given to me by a family member.

i'm looking to expand my knowledge here, and maybe even a new hobby?? haha, anyways, hello from a newbie!

Hey guys,

my name is Phil and I am from Germany.

Some of you may already know me from other forums.

I am a big fan of Japanese watches (diving watches). So I have few SEIKO, Citizen, Orient and CASIO watches in my collection.

The other watches in my collection are all diving watches as well.

I am a sports fanatic.

A few of my watches I take for diving.

Pictures will follow time by time.

I am pleased to be here. :)

Kind Regards

Phil

PS: a nice pic of OSD

Hi everyone.

I'm from Singapore, just bought my first Seiko this year, the SBDC-007 or as everyone else calls it, the Shogun. Started out being obsessed by the IWC 3717 Pilot watch, that faded and now I'm just a fan of well constructed, well designed watches.

Seiko is interesting to me because they have as rich a horological history as any of the European brands, contributed enormously to horology and for their top stuff, is actually a vertically integrated manufacturer like Rolex, etc. In an alternate time line, if they had taken the same steps as Rolex to become a luxury brand, we will probably not be talking about Seiko as being cheap.

Hi all,

My name is Mark, I'm an Australian currently living in New Zealand.

I collect mainly vintage Seikos, but have a reasonable selection of other vintage Japanese watches too...and also a few vintage Swiss pieces to round out the collection.

I received my first watch (a Ricoh 21j Auto, which I still have :) ) for my 12th birthday, way back in 1976, whilst on holiday in Singapore.

To this day, I have a great interest in both Ricohs & Singapore. :)

Looking forward to joining in the discussion on this wonderful forum.

Regards,

Mark.

Hi ,

I am Gary. I have been collecting watches for quite a few years and havent really gotten onto the local seiko forums as yet. This is actually the first time that I posted. I have been active on other forums like Watchuseek.com. I collect a lot of watches from well known Swiss brands to Japanese watches especially Seiko. Glad to know you guys who are passionate about this hobby!

Hope to share with you pictures of my collection soon.
Re: All members, please come in & introduce youselves
Hi all, I'm Raphael. Been passionate about watches for some years now and have a blog where I look to share this passion.

I look for compelling propositions regardless of origin and believe there's a whole lot out there which is extremely bad for my wallet.

I hope to share my pics and thoughts, primarily on Seiko, here.

Cheers

Hi all......I just joined the forum thanks to another member Pipwatch who told me about it's existence.

I am a pretty active member on WUS and other forums too but to find a forum dedicated to my favourite watch brand is like a dream come true.

I hope to share my little knowledge and Seiko collection with everyone here and in turn hope to learn much more from all the learned members here. :)

Fateh

Re: All members, please come in & introduce youselves
Hi, my names Darren, also new to the board.

Was given my first Seiko in 86 by my father which was his when I left NZ to live in Singapore it was a 300m Tuna which over the years had a few new dials and hands replaced in Seiko house Singapore till they ran out of parts for that model, since then I relumed the indices blue, beadblasted the casing and replaced the plexiglass, bezel so looks new. I then sometime later bought the Gold 1000m Tuna... but sold it to a friend and a regret I still have everyday as they are hard to come by now days. I havent bought a watch in a couple of years but managed to collect a few in my time, all are divers and all I wear with the exception of the Double Red which I did take down to 200m one job. I am now hunting for a Kazimon 1500 to bring a bronzo into the group then who knows what might give me the itch in the future.I still try to buy my old Tuna off my mate but he not budging and said I can have it for over 5 times what he paid for it, not much of a mate I guess.Anyways glad to be here and hope to see and learn new things on the board. "So many watches and so little time"

Cheers

I have a Seiko v743-8b50 which I've used for years (it was a gift from my wife) and recently realized that I should have a hobby. So I've decided to join and learn more about Seiko watches. I am particularly interested in obtaining a Seiko 5 SNZF 13 "Sea Urchin" blue dial so if anybody with a pre-loved one should get in touch with me :)
