Re: S I C / Sharing Is Caring for Non-Japanese Watches
Hi all

Can I check where can we see Certina watches in Singapore?

Googled and found DFSgalleria, but when I clicked on the watch in DFS web, it shows the page is unavailable.

Any other shops selling?

You can find them in Marina Square. There's a multi-brand boutique there, just off the forum area, that has Certina. I'm sure there are other outlets but this popped to mind.

Beautiful...

I really like this type of case, it's called the cushion case right?[/quote]

Depends which feature you are referencing when you refer to "this type of case". This dual-crown, internal dive bezel case is known as "super compressor" case. The way this type of case achieves water-resistance is through leveraging the pressures at depth to make the seal tighter, thus the moniker. But a lot of the modern super compressors are just normal screw-back cases with internal bezel.

One example of a modern "super compressor" that is actually a normal screw-back:

I think for modern divers, as far as I know (I'm sure there could be some more), only the Rolex DSSD and Vostok Amphibia exploit pressure as part of the case design to achieve a tighter seal against water.

This is a vintage amphibia but the modern amphibias use pretty much the same case engineering.

IF you are referencing just the cushion-shaped case, then there are plenty of watches modern and vintage with this sort of case shape.

Example of a shrouded lugs cushion:

Exposed lug cushion:

just to give some examples of cushion-shaped cases...

I hv not seen CERTINA boutique @ Marina Sq. Only LONGINES, TISSOT, TAG HEUER and MAURICE LACRIOX which also carries GLYCINE range of watches...
Availability of CERTINA
The only place i know that sells CERTINA watches is @ NANKING Watch Center located @ Peninsular Plaza.

Saw CERTINA mentioned sighted in 303 Orchard, from HWZ discussion... but couldn't confirm...

This is an old model that has been superseded by 857. I don't know what is the price last time. But the current 857 is selling about S$2.2k after claiming VAT and credit card exchange.. Hope it helps in your decision. As usual, HFTL.
