Use hole puncher to punch the buckle hole then use pen knife to trim. Can use pen knife to cut too.

My leather? Got it many many years ago in one of the shop in geylang. I think the shop no more there already.

Ya correct. To apply on the edge to "close up" the leather fiber then polish to make it smooth and shiny!

I use mink oil to condition my leather strap. Be careful the mink oil will darken the leather

Share share how i make a leather strap. Pardon my English hor.



Like I mention before, you need to have the right manual tools to do the job. I will share with you what kinda tools to use along the way. Most of the tools i have already mention in my previous posts.



First of all, find some cardboard to draft out and cut out the size of the strap you want to make. In my photo, it is a 22mm strap and length, 125mm by 75mm. Remember the short side (the buckle side) you need to add in 2mm. The extra 2mm is for you to make a bevel (1mm each) and glue later. Will explain that in detail later.



In short, the length for my draft will be 125mm by 77mm.

Next, draw the outline on the leather and cut it using a sharp knife and a steel ruler. Please handle with care when cutting the leather, don't cut yourself! Remember to place your knife at a right angle when cutting the leather. If not your strap edges will be slanted.

Maybe I should try this diy thing also, let me start with the easy part...ie diy a stitching pony. :lol: :lol: :lol:



we've seen sinner's C-clamp pony







and koko's little pony







so, I searched the web for other ponies, and I found the curve ones which I liked and built one.



The parts: bolt and nut from my tool box, torch light, 2 large wooden spoon from hdb ah tiong's shop, and a shower curtain C-hook





My wooden spoon stitching pony :lol: , slide C-hook up to get greater compression at the clamping end





Torch light tube to hold the pony upright (Should probably drill a hole at the end of the tube and secure it to a piece of wood)





So, the easy part is out of the way. Now the difficult part, doing the leather work, well, that has to wait :lol: :lol: :lol:

Although the clamping area is quite narrow, it does hold a bund pad in place nicely even without the C-hook. I dont use the C-hook when I place the 'pony' in the torch light tube, coz the deeper you push the 'pony' into the tube, the tighter it grips.



Having said all that, I built another more presentable 'pony', again, idea came from some diy site/blog, Brazilian I think. Will show its pic and a very minor modification I did to K2's bund pad someday :D
