ok few things u must check for a 6159-7010 tuna to determine true 'worth'...



-dial condition (patina on lume indices/dots,any dial peeling,water spots,signs of moisture)

-hands set condition (patina/wabi)

-shroud condition(original ceramic coating finishing/refinish ....scratches or marks)

-shroud screws(see if they are all present and all 4 of them are titanium screws...not stainless steel generic screws)

-case condition (unpolished orany condition)

-serial number( earliest production from 1975 . 600 with 'm' is made from 75-76 only whereas from 76 onwards all will be marked '600m')

so they should tally up.



-running condition (as per how u check a normal watch with handwind feature)

-crown locking(screw down crown well,minimal or no crossed threads)



thats all i can think of now..

yah bro this is according to my findings when I was trying to buy my 6159 tuna last time..



without 'm' =75 to 76 only

with 'm' =from 76 onwards



in between 1976 is the transition months where probably Seiko still use '600 without metres' dial on newer casing(serialled late months in 1976 hence 6xxxxxx) till full 600m dial takes over.

. so means



if you see a 600 without 'm' tuna, it will only be serialled 5xxxxxx or 6xxxxxxx and not 7xxxxxxx or 8xxxxxxxx

but of course ppl do mix and match watches after begin in hands of collectors/watchmakers.
