You send your PAM to K2 for servicing, of course is cheaper. But don't get me wrong and don't be "mislead" :mrgreen: , because I meant it in a good way.

Mr. Goh of K2 is very good in what he do. I sent to him my Fortis Chrono and only charged me $160 for overhaul and reset the stopwatch hand to 0, imagine if I sent it to Fortis AD, like what I did with my PAM! :o

I went to Richmont for repairs and cost me $500, but like what I said, the second time it broke, Richmont never charge me anymore, it was FOC.



I think that was in 2005, and since then no repairs was needed for my PANERAI, nor my FORTIS and SINN. So the money I paid for was, IMHO, worth it.



For my SEIKOs, last one that went in to Mr. Goh was my 6105. Overhaul + repair of the hacking feature and repair of the turn-lock crown = $150. Even valuated the worth of my 6105 which I bought for $500++ some few years back without hacking and cannot lock the crown. But of course, I not letting go! :lol:



Cost of normal wear & tear service every, say, 5 years may not be that expensive, but depends where the watch will be serviced. AD I think cost more than JW or K2.

hehe. owning a rolex or pam used to be considered a rich person 7-8 years ago but not anymore. ever since the money printing around the world and easy credits like (36 month THG installments). everyone can afford luxury watches liao. i see so many people in mrt wearing gmt c, newer subs etc. :lol:

Because that is where I had my SINN serviced last time a few years. The screw down crown broke, I was charged $500.



But if you define service as overhaul or replace parts etc., etc., it might cost more. I am just guessing here, say $800 - $1000?

Did they take it out, clean it, maybe change a gasket then put it back? Then it's un-broken? Like magic?



If a part is broken I usually think it would be repaired or replaced.

Your guess is as good as mine. I brought it to them, next thing I know, THG called me to collect my SINN and I just pay.



It took a while though! Don't know if they send the watch to SINN factory or if it was done by THG in-house. Sorry, didn't really cared or bothered as long as they got it fixed. Next time, if ever there will be. I going to K2.



It was an ST-142 BTW. I was stupid enough to try and hand-wind its Lemania 5100 engine and that is where my troubles started. Expensive lesson learned!

actually my watch is running fine. except that i wanted to get the hands alignment fix during servicing. see the hands alingment. like kinda of out right? sinn qc also failed, they are basically selling cases and then do encasement, if do until hands alignment out then is failed liao.

LUXURY watch retailer The Hour Glass is offering buyers lots of time: a 40-month interest-free instalment plan, the longest seen in the retail industry. Financial experts warn consumers to ensure they spend within their means when taking up these sorts of offers and to avoid doing so on impulse. The money has to be paid off eventually, they note.



The Hour Glass offer started on Jan 1 and lasts until Feb 28 for all brands, though only with a DBS or POSB credit card.



"This time, we would like to make owning a desired timepiece more accessible to those who aspire to own one," said managing director Wong Mei Ling. "Hence, we pushed the envelope on instalment payment plans to 40 months to make repayment every month considerably lower." The offer is not limited to timepieces, she added.



The Hour Glass also sells a variety of goods at luxury multi-brand boutique Malmaison by The Hour Glass, such as fragrances and jewellery. Since the promotion began, "results have been positive". "The 40-month instalment plan is very appealing given that no one in the retail industry has ever embarked on it," she said.



The Hour Glass' previous offer was a 36-month instalment plan in 2012. During such promotional periods, the retailer sees instalment payment plans spread evenly over various options which also include 12- and 24-month plans. As such, sales generally spike with these yearly promotions that introduce long-term instalment plans.



Ms Wong said, "We expect this promotion to outperform the ones we have developed in the past. "With the first ever 40 months interest payment plan, this is the lowest monthly repayment plan."



The promotion has encouraged customers to buy more than one watch. Banking associate Joseph Low bought matching ROLEX timepieces that cost more than $10,000 each, for himself and his wife using the 40-month plan, to celebrate turning 40 this year.



He said: "I always have had a fascination with mechanical timepieces and when I saw the advertisement on Jan 1 about the 40-month programme, it simply resonated with me, and I just knew this was the time to put down my 'milestone'.



Long-term instalment plans need to be within a person's means, said financial advisers. Banks such as DBS Bank do not have a specific limit for the amount which can be put on an instalment plan, as long as it is within the cardholder's credit limit. As a general guideline, the credit limit is up to four times the monthly salary.



Mr Michael Lee, Cornerstone Planners managing director, noted: "A debt is a debt and one is liable to repay. The longer one owes, the longer one is in debt." To prevent over-extending on such loans, Mr Lee said: "It is important for one to check his debt servicing ratio, which is the total monthly debt repayment over the monthly take-home pay, and it should not exceed 35 per cent."



It can be dangerous to take on such plans if big ticket items are bought on impulse, he added, and a longer repayment plan tends to give someone "the feeling that he can afford it but in reality he may not".



Mr Low has previously taken up instalment plans - the longest was 36 months - so longer durations do not deter him from making a planned purchase. He has been wanting to buy the ROLEX for a long time, and said: "To me it's investing in something I believe in for my wife and myself, and the timepieces will become heirlooms for loved ones."

In that case take it to Mr. Goh, he did same for my FORTIS chrono + overhaul. For you if alignment only should be cheaper.

however, i do notice that at some markers, the alignment is ok. makes me wondering whether the dial printing is correct or not. :lol:

Possible, it may be a factory defect.



The 6309 in question that I had mentioned earlier that I brought for repair in Keypoint, Beach Road had the chapter ring mis-aligned as shown below:





So is the 7002 that was given to me by my brother:





I got frustrated and gave the 6309 up. I got a better one that I got from Bro watchlooker:





But of course I keep the 7002, got sentimental value as it was given to me by my brother.

Your guess is as good as mine. I brought it to them, next thing I know, THG called me to collect my SINN and I just pay.



It took a while though! Don't know if they send the watch to SINN factory or if it was done by THG in-house. Sorry, didn't really cared or bothered as long as they got it fixed. Next time, if ever there will be. I going to K2.



It was an ST-142 BTW. I was stupid enough to try and hand-wind its Lemania 5100 engine and that is where my troubles started. Expensive lesson learned!
