Re: Tokkotai Project's Presentation
I just got mine and have to say, a nicely designed piece. However it is severely disappointing that such a simple product can be so poorly executed to reach the consumer. These opinions are after having taken part in a number of forum projects which do not come anything close to what I have seen with this.

1) Extremely CRAP(well virtually non existent) communication from the watchmaker which makes it hard for the co-ordinator of the project.

2) Extremely poor timeline in sending out the pieces,150 pieces over the course of 2 months is Ridiculous.

3) Can't get the basics right on order completion.

4) Crown pull/push is weak. Does not instill any confidence and need several tries before clicking back( this with using a NH35-seiko's 4R hand winding and hackable movement)

5) Pre dated warranty. (most micros or direct sales don't usually do that, instead they end up giving more warranty which is nothing to them)

Pros

1) Reliable movement which is easy to source should the product fail to perform as expected.

2) Good presentation & design.

And hence my overall disappointment with this brand. Personally, they have some nice designs but with this sort of CS from what has been experienced, I have to say one need not bother as I would not. However, I suppose one can always find supporters regardless, just not me.

Screwed down crown thou.. Not suitable for manual. Didn't expect a 200M resistance for this.

Just got mine, was wondering if all of you guys got the blue black strip nato strap?

I agree with the following points.

4) Crown pull/push is weak. Does not instill any confidence and need several tries before clicking back( this with using a NH35-seiko's 4R hand winding and hackable movement) - The pull is ok but the push is really bad. Need to push a few times for it to catch back.

5) Pre dated warranty. (most micros or direct sales don't usually do that, instead they end up giving more warranty which is nothing to them) - Mine was suppose to be send out in June, they din even bother to change the start of the warranty from 30th May to 30th June. Though I paid on time and they din manage to get the process right. Super disappointed.

To add, the hour and minute hand was not perfect, can see the clear line where the lume end on the hands and there are one dot or dust on the hour hand lume which make it like not a smooth hand. I would rather they lume the whole hand then to see the line. I feel the line on the hour and minute hand is very glaring.

The only pro is that the finishing on the case and crown is pretty well done, but the original strap is abit suede in feeling hence I wonder would it last.
Re: Tokkotai Project's Presentation
Hi guys,

Please take care of your Tokkotai caseback. This is what happened to mine after a few days of wearing. Found when I was changing strap just now.

I though the caseback was made of Stainless Steel but I wonder how the pitting occurs.

1) Pitting at the word "CRISTAL"

2) Pitting at the A of "TOKKOTAI"

Of course, I did clean it up then took the picture . Even with alcohol swap. This is definitely clean.

It is those type similar to black pitting you will find on vintage cases.
Re: Tokkotai Project's Presentation
Could come from contamination during stamping or machining process. If pitting occurred, then may have to passivate to stem further corrosion.

What happened to your piece?
Re: Tokkotai Project's Presentation
if its indeed pitting then it is impurities in the metal during forming process.

Possible solution is to re-buff and polish off if its not too deep.
