Re: Official Omega Speedmaster Thread
The 40th anniv Apollo landing edition looks nice on their advertisements (aren't they all?) Personally am disappointed (thought this was gonna be my 1st speedy) when I got around to the it in steel.. Strongly advise bros interested in this model to go to their boutiques to check it out first..

Settled with the 50th speedy anniv instead

IMO, if you do intend to hoot a Omega Speedy, best is to go for the very begin model with 321 movt. Best of the best is to get one with raised Omega logo on the dial. ;)

I had been searching for a long time for one still bo luck, until early this year. Had a opportunity to get one in a trade but movt is 861. So still better than nothing... heheh...

You'll ask why this one? Simply because it is a post-moon watch. The caseback tell it all.....

You know what the deal about post-moon and pre-moon right. The watches that first went to the moon were pre-moon.

haha finally u post the pics...been waiting for it(though u posted before last time) but this is a rare short production run(transitional piece).

A 861 in it is still ok for me.... thats very common replacement for such pieces :)

my goal: a speedy 125

my dream nia: a snoopy..
There's a supposedly good conditioned manual speedy going for 2.6k on sgroc/swx! Comes with box, manual, cards, extra straps... watch dated 1999.

I think speedies cost relatively more for servicing, and that's holding me back in getting preowned with w/o proper servicing history. Likewise for Swiss auto chronos...

2.6k for a '99 watch seems a little steep actually  '99 means a 1861 right? I'm out of touch with brand new Speedy Pro pricing - don't they go for about S$4k?
this watch on sale for 2.6k but think will sell only if he accept offers...say early 2k would be a good price(if its good cond with fullset accessories) for a older 1861 piece. Cos knw that 2k can secure nice condition riao if you are lucky. 2.6k can buy good condition vintage 861 riao.. (most impt must knw wat u looking for in a speedy to your collection)
Re: Official Omega Speedmaster Thread
Indo WIS are into vintage speedy lately for no reason I can point out, so looking for a vintage speedy in indo is not a good idea for now, price wise, just like looking for a vintage bullheads in sg :)

Trying my luck in sg forums :D

I think the snoopy eyes on the stars logo at the backcase of these snoopy speedy is applied (sorta like a sticker kind thing).. That's what stopping me from getting one, and the price of course :p
Re: Official Omega Speedmaster Thread
Besides the speedies mentioned, anyone can spare some thoughts on the mark series iii. Iv or iv? The mark iii got very nice case like helmut.

Besides the speedies mentioned, anyone can spare some thoughts on the mark series iii. Iv or iv? The mark iii got very nice case like helmut.

bro,IMHO really depends on which variants u comfortable and aim to buy riao since there are so many speedy variants other than iconic moon watches(pre moon, post moon n moon)..

mark II,III,IV,mark 4.5 and 125 anniversary.

mark II begin 861 manual winding and rest of the above using auto omega calibre(obviously lemania based). these movt are all well made else they wouldnt have survived well thru the decades...so the question would be personal movt preference, design outlook and also what sub registers are on the dial....some bro may like 24hr sub register...some dont... some die die must have 60secs sweep at sub dial...some prefer

cleaner second sweep hands.rather than mixed of 24hr and sec hands register.

I like the use of white to black on dial in speedy hence I traded my orange exotic dial mark II with the black one.

next should be a 125 anniversary cos of the case design where you can remove the whole case module from bracelet and case holder...

mark 4 and 4.5 have obvious different dial design...I like 4.5 (1045) for its seconds sweep sub register than a mark 4...

mark 3 has the most variants of case designs...

-TV case

-Helmet

-flatter normal type

and as we see, helmet ones cost more and sought after than common TV case.

Recently came across a local retailer selling a mint mark 4.5 for about $2.6k. Reasonable?
Re: Official Omega Speedmaster Thread
mint for such vintage omega from 70's? if its really all authentic and unrestored, then its worth it... as its as really rare to find a mint one as in untouched ,not refinish.... most mint ones have been refinish done to case(rebrush, polish) and dial might be newly replaced ....better research more before u pull the trigger.

You can't go wrong wif 1861 and 861.

I read it somewhere that diff only 1 small piece Delrin brake or something....

Of cos, if u google u can find out more. Like 17 jewel for earlier version and 18 for later as well as the brass coating to rho..... Dunno what coating. Anyway, u can also check wif oosimm I think. Or even roo7.

Price pt wise, last when I hooted, ard 2k for 861 speedy. That was abt 3mths ago. But, this depends also on cond, and other factors.

Hope this helps

Thanks bro. Because someone wanna offer me a cal.861 at the price of 3k. The watch is from US just landed sg. I was wondering to bite the bait...
Re: Official Omega Speedmaster Thread
you mean 861. post moon watch ,at excellent cond?

3k SGD is more on the 2nd hand watch shop value...like how much they sell to customers. try to get under 2.6k(if you really like the watch).

those price point ard early 2k have been seen but then rather uncommon and got to be patient..

Note the conditions of dial(original vintage dial or OEM omega replacement when it was sent for service- tritum T swiss- MadeT or just swiss made. Color of lume on indices and hands if they are matching. Any issue to chrono start/stop/reset. Any pitting underside of case, casethreads, backcase. Clean movement? replacement crystal or original with scratches,..most important I suppose at this price it should come with original bracelet.

Bro

I will leave the seller identity aside. I was offer a supposed new 3570 for 3k till I found out there is a missing link although there is the blue protective sticker on the clasps, including the certs from hong kong. At that time, i was quite tempted but I pull hand brake. Then he told me today he has a cal.861 arriving the shore and I was quite tempted but again, there are so many considerations... I think I am not so meticulous to look at the watch. Even to the extend of using a loupe to examine it. more then often, it is between trust of the sellers and buyers. I really appreciate your advice. Must buy you kopi one day...:)
Re: Official Omega Speedmaster Thread
general Omega speedmaster movements:

http://chronomaddox.com/moonwatch_cal_background.html"delryn brake" in this movt. See above chronomaddox link.

The 861 was copper plated . Omega says rose gold until 1992 for the 861 and 863 then yellow gold until 1996, rhodium thereafter.

The 1863, has the metal brake instead of Delrin and is finished by hand (filing, angling and polishing).
