Spreading some G-shock love
It's been rough going in the market, and fiddling around with my watches always bring a sense of calm.



Took some quick pics yesterday, SIC here for SC bros



First up, some new ones







The left piece is grey and white, reminiscence of star wars colourway.

The right piece is a very robust rich yellow, and is aptly called bumblebee among the enthusiasts.

The centre one has straps that don't match, but the sum is greater than the parts. Reminds me of boba fett's slave 1.

Next is a pair of re-released Jasons. With great self-discipline I limited myself to these two. Very tempted with the recent hyper colour models, but I shall resist.







The one on the left has such clashing colors it hurts. The main LCD is a green mirror LCD, while the sub displays are amber. They light up in their respective colors.



The one on the right reminds of superman logo color. It's a good yellow, not too pastel, and IMO wearable. (I'm not trendy enough to wear the left piece. It'll just look like bad taste on me)

Besides selling toughness, g-shocks are probably very much about colors as well. Too many times I've been suckered into buying different colors of the same module. But i can say the same about my multiple 7xxx Seiko, and multiple 3185, multiple 3135.







The surf rider at release had a module never seen before. The case is compatible with the stock basic 5600e, and at that time was the only solar module for 5600e-type of bezel. I had to get it, and paid full retail (ouch) because 3D didn't have them.



The Other three tide graph models had the newer casings, incompatible with the 5600e-type bezel. I especially like the turquoise one. It has such a holiday feel.



The one smack in the centre came on those bulky Velcro double-layer bands. Finally Marco stocked the Kermit straps for the Kermit g-6900 and on those go.

Next, a pair of BPM counters. I used to play with DJ equipment, and must profess that these BPM counters are really not very useful. But I still like them for the scene they represent.

The basic 5600e costs $65 at mustafa, $68 at MayMay (Bencoolen), $69 at 3D (Bencoolen). For the other variants of black, really have to see the model.... :mrgreen:

I have the 5500 desert camo.. Lovely camo, no two pieces the same. The fact that the module cannot display date and date simultaneously meant little wrist time. Same reason I don't wear the atomic inverse gulf man.

Ok next, a pair of 6600s. A basic model like the dw5600/6900, but seemingly uncommon. No sub-dials here, just a nice big LCD. And a target timer.







Yellow was from the early-90s. Still remember going to buy it with my wife (then is girlfriend).

Black is bog standard, and anyone considering the 6900 should give this a glance too!

24 hours leh, take your time siah. Yah the matte ones are basic 5600. Mustafa old side and new side they just dump in a pile with the non-Gs.

Light is bluish green lor, quite bright. At night see liao very happy.

yes sir... let me SIC some screwbacks...







I don't have any macro shots of the display for this, but the red display is really special. When viewed close-up, there is a pattern of "grille" over the digits. This model is of course screwback (as in the caseback is not secured by four screws, but rather screwed down like rolex or seiko divers), and has a metal keeper. The backlight is RED, and as we all should know, red disrupts our night-vision the least... very tactical right lol...

orh... here's another one, looks vintage. Also solid stainless steel case, screwback.







This is a mod. I started with a spike lee model, took out the model, removed the silver buttons and buckle. Disassembled a 5600EG, pop the module in, installed the gold buttons and buckle. Oh the bezel from 5600EG went on this one too.

Sorry sorry, that includes protreks and other casios also. Not solely g-shocks. Collect for 17-18 years liao, and these are generally low-priced affordable pieces (unlike Seikos which are easily >$100+) so not difficult to accumulate the numbers lah.
