GST might be able to dodge, but exchange rate quite bad, I think I paid $650 or thereabouts
Re: Seiko Sumo , Out Of Stock Lately ?

received a used sumo blue recently, but not really feeling it. been wanting this for ages but when it finally arrived i just feel like it's not substantial enough. i think it might also be partly due to the mm300 i recently acquired.

anyone else feels the same way?

Yes. Thats why I always try the higher range and if I can afford it, I will get it. If not, then I know what compromises I am able to tolerate. That helps put the brakes on continuos purchase mania. Hehehe.

Once you have the mm300 in hand, you can feel its quality. Not that the sumo is not quality but imho it is just not in the same league.

Of course, as part of a collection, one might still get a sumo to fill the gap, finances allowing of course.

Enjoy the watch, if you can't it is still an easy flip from what I can see on the forums.

Cheers.

Below $700 quite attractive already mah. No? hehe.
Re: Seiko Sumo , Out Of Stock Lately ?
Not really imho if these are used pieces as can probably get below 700 new especially for broa who buy off the internet.. Sumo stocks are suffucient and from what I can see theres really no need for panic buying. Buy only if you want it not because everyone says to buy.

Good hunting.
Re: Seiko Sumo , Out Of Stock Lately ?
the only thing that is holding me back from purchasing a sumo, is the hands. I'd prolly have it modded to the sword hands like the monster or tuna.

$699 for BNIB....not worth it ma as new one at Big Time is $726, got customer service + free sizing + coffee....lol
Re: Seiko Sumo , Out Of Stock Lately ?
Personally . Have both been he sumo and MM300. B,oth are very good watches, although off different league, Sumo won't lose out too far to the MM300.

Moreover with the price tag, it comes with 6r15 movement and the finishing is cool. Really value for $$. I am intending to get the blumo for my showcase soon :)

Cheers

Just my humble 2 cents worth.
Re: Seiko Sumo , Out Of Stock Lately ?
yen is in a very good rate nowwwwwwww
Re: Seiko Sumo , Out Of Stock Lately ?
bro andylau said it right... both sumo and mm300 different.

if you look at the technical dimensions, both have the same case size, yet they wear and look very different:

- Sumo: 45mm

- MM300: 44mm

Everything about the MM300 is all very well executed, as many have written - the hands, the dial, the bezel, the case. I have no issue with the bracelet, i find it quite comfortable on my 6.25" wrist. but I do wish the clasp construction was better. I like the ratcheting system, but the material of the clasps is quite dull (SS/Ti??) and it scrathes very easily.

To me the MM300 is a tool watch... yes it is very shiny and blingy, but slap on an isofrane, rubber strap and/or zulu/nato strap and you will know what i mean.

Whereas, the sumo is more dressy for me. The sumo is a longer watch, with its curved down lugs. The "largeness" (if there is such a word) is enhanced by the fat bezel and large font (its either u like it or u dont), which is not quite a traditional diver design.

The case, is very well made and cleverly designed. If you take a look at the side profile, you will notice that the bezel is just as thick as it is wide. If this was slapped on top of the watch like any other 3-piece design dive watch, the sumo will be much taller than the MM300.

So what did Seiko do? They made the bezel recess into the case where the edge of the case covers the sides of the bezel (a semi shroud perhaps?). The sumo still kept its huge presence, but it fits under the cuff of your long sleeve shirt.

If you ever want to pop off the bezel it is very easy. Turn the bezel so the lume pip is pointing at 9. then at the 12 position, you will notice a small notch where the bezel meets the case. This is where you can insert your caseback knife and "pop" off the bezel.

The sloping lugs also gives a better fit on smaller wrist.

Here you can see a pic i took of the sumo case design.

Re: Seiko Sumo , Out Of Stock Lately ?
After a few weeks of watch hunting, still can't find a watch that i like.

Until i came to this forum and found sumo.

Considering whether to get for the past few days, finally today went down to Big Time to make my purchase.

Love at 1st sight. But was unable to decide black or blue, as both aso very swee!

In the end get black. lol.

Anyway, is the watch looks too big for my small hand?

Also, was told by Big Time that any issue with watch i will need to bring it to them so they will help me send to Japan for servicing.

Is it true for u guys too?

Yes, the warranty is local Japan for Big Time pieces. So need to bring back to them to send back to Japan during warranty period. But usually no need to worry as these are very well made watches.

For future servicing you can always look for long local watchmakers like forum favourite K2 or even TS if you wanna spend the dough.

Wear your Sumo in good health!
