Wah nice circular ones. 9 blade aperture?
The B & W pic is shot with a 28mm f2.8 lens with 7 blades.
The other one is with a 50mm f1.2 lens with 9 blades.
Those are shot at the biggest aperture, so how many blades do not determine how circular the bokeh balls are, its the size of the aperture. Big aperture like f1.2 will have more oval bokeh balls.

Maybe the number of blades will affect the bokeh shape if you step down the aperture size. Maybe at full open, the blades are all tuck in so it doesn't affect. All the newer lens are 7 blades.

Yes, when using full wide aperture, all the blades are retracted, hence, the bokeh balls are smooth round or oval.
If you reduce the aperture, angular bokeh may appear if the blades are not the rounded type.
Older lenses like mine have straight blades, so if i close the aperture from f1.2 to f2, i can see angular bokeh balls.

Mine is just a simple shot with thin dof :)Your shots definitely have more effort in it. Are those round balls usually water droplets with light shining through ?

The hp was rested by the side of the water beads, you can actually see the bright spot at the top part of the picture shining the water beads and the side of my hand.

I have a recommendation for bokeh location. When you next visit the Helix bridge make sure to get some bokeh shots there.
One thing though, use your hp or whatever light source you can find to light up your watch/subject. Here are a couple of samples.
