Stargate SKZ325K1
I purchased a new Seiko Stargate SKZ-325K1 from a local Seiko retailer , its a impressive Diver 8-) it uses the Seiko superior 7S36 movement , its a similar movement to the 6R15 , only without hack or handwind ability . I hope it serves me well as my daily beater ;)

Great watch, but get some Lock-Tite on the 'Chevron' stat! Horror stories with losing those abound, price to replace is $60++! :eek:

Depends on you definition of 'close'. The evidence does point to the 6R having been designed with the 7S as its starting point.
But blueprints don't tell the whole story, and it is certainly true that 6R's are superior to the 7S's. The 6R's are only MIJ instead of SG/MY/CN/etc, they have better regulation, better power reserve from the SPRON mainspring, has better QC and finish.
Seiko positioned the 7S as a base, cheap movement, whereas they positioned the 6R as one going into $500+ watches. Seiko was happy to keep their movements clearly dileated like that, and didn't have a reason to make the 7S itself much better as it's already bulletproof and they needed it to be around for the mass-market autos... and it's still a great movement for what it is!

In Australia the SKZ-325K1 Retails for $795.00 AUD , so it not considered as a cheap Automatic by Seiko Aust , in fact they consider the 7S36 as a middle of the range movement .
We dont have the 6R15 here , so the 7S36 movement is fitted to $500+ Automatic range of Seiko's ;)

Yea, after this issue became known, some people on the SCWF have suggested treating the screw with Lock-Tite as a precaution. Not a failsafe, but at least it's better than (knock on wood) potentially regretting not doing anything later! :)

I checked my phillips head screw drivers , even my micro size one is too big to remove the screw (its tiny) . As i have got lock-tite , but not a small enough screw driver .
If the screw & pip do fall off (i hope not) , i will be off to see Seiko Aust service centre & make a claim .

There's ways other than creating a acct on flicker or photobucket.
If you have a Facebook acct. Start a new album n keep the album to private for you only. Wat ever pics u wanna upload to any forum, just go to fb,this private album,copy link location.
Come back to SC or any other forum n insert/paste link between img_img
Most of my images on this forum are uploaded in this manner
