Actually i am looking for 2 models basically....... but i am open to more options :) Kinda looking at Leather straps type, with moon phrase perferably, big dates, and perpetual calender.

Is Seiko at the range of 600-800 worth getting? Some of my friends urge me to consider higher tier brands if getting at this price....... like Tag Haguer, Omega etc......

I highly doubt there's Tag or Omega at the 600-800 range.. (not very familiar with their price range)



Well, if you hang around here long enough, you will soon realise there are members here who invested a good sum of money on quality Seiko pieces..



If you asked me, you get more value out the $$ invested in Seiko vs a typical Swiss watch.. again it's personal preference. Some of us will prefer an unique, well built MM300 vs an entry level no frills swiss watch.



Good examples for the 600-800 range, JDM models like Sumo, Cocktail, 6R15 based, just search for Sumo, 6r15 for more threads..

Maybe a fake Omega or Tag for $200 + , or you can get a decent Seiko for $800 + that will be a top quality watch & serve you well . Then again you can spend up to $6,500 to $31,000 SGD for a Grand Seiko .

I think there's a good range of Seiko in price range from 1k - 5k, you have the quartz tunas, the premier series before hitting mm300 and the auto chronographs...

But Does seiko last a long time ? One thing i m looking at also, is the durability. I did some research, not alot, saw some post, that seiko after 2-3 years..... problem liao etc. :mrgreen:

This is the 2 Main pieces i am aiming =)

My Seiko Arctura Kinetic i purchased new in 2004 , its working beautifully .

Seiko make watches that will last a lifetime , with care taken to look after the watch .

Standard Kinetic works the same as direct drive , only with direct drive you can hand wind the watch to add charge . Buy the one that speaks to you , your shortlist of high end Kinetic's so far are nice .

Ok so those without perpetual calender ....... i heard have to "reset" the calender every month without 31 days? Anyone can enlighten me how to "reset" ? Press a button? or have to manually tune the hour hand of the dates?

And btw, what is "In-house" warranty? How does it compared to the actual Seiko warranty? Any difference?

for watches w/o perpetual function, u just need to quick set the date, a day or two forward to current's date.



in-house warranty means the shop(where u purchased your watch from, will be covering the warranty should there be any issues with the watch within the warranty period).
