Seiko JDM Sumo , SBDC001J .
Automatic Diver 200m JDM Sumo SBDC001J , i purchased as a gift for a good friend in Singapore .

The quality of the finish is very good & the workhorse 6R15 Caliber is a winner "IMO" , i went once again to Seiko "Thong Sia" boutique store . The service i have gotten from the girls @ "Thong Sia" is simply the best , also their product knowledge is high .

Anyway thats my 4th Seiko gift / purchase while visting Singapore , am very pleased :D
Re: Seiko JDM Sumo , SBDC001J .

G'day mate! I'm both surprised and glad that my post tipped you over on your new purchase! Congrats! So I assume you bought a Black one from their Orchard Road boutique? Now you're making me hanker for another JDM but I need one that's <44mm in diameter........ any suggestions? =p
Re: Seiko JDM Sumo , SBDC001J .

I purchased @ "Seiko Thong Sia" , the Genuine Seiko international warranty i get by purchasing there was important to me . I dont want a warranty supported by retail store only or that of grey imports etc , also i wanted to buy my Seiko's in a Boutique Seiko outlet "nothing like that in Australia" , also i got a discount . I am always :) to pay extra $$ for a great retail / customer service exprience & thats exactly what i got from the staff @ Seiko Thong Sia . ;)[/quote]

Especially with 2 cute sales there.

Have my Sumo for about 2 weeks plus. Initially it was running at +4.5 seconds a day. Today, checked it and it's +2 seconds. It's an understatement to say I'm very happy with that =)

Thanks bro =) How about yours?
Re: Seiko JDM Sumo , SBDC001J .
Just to comment regards @ what a Amazing watch the Sumo really is , during my many vists to a watch stores in Singapore , i directly compared the finish of my Sumo to many other watches worth thousands of dollars more . The Sumo honestly not only compares in quality of finish , but actually exceeds many higher end watches .

Makes me very glad that i own a Seiko Sumo , IMHO the best quality / best finished watch in its price point & beyond .

My Sumo is approx +/- 4.5 seconds per day . It seems to be loss & not gain in seconds , all within spec's . ;)

Update -

Just one day out from leaving Singapore , i wanted to give a gift to my bro in laws Son . He just finished his Singapore army service & has grown up to be a fine young man , so i decided my new Sumo will make the perfect gift for him . So i given him the new Sumo , its a great gift for a great guy :)

Mine is about +5 sec after 4 days. Seems to be more accurate if it spends more time on the wrist.

Better than GS's specs.

Besides Thong Sia, where can one have a look at the Sumo, especially the blue one. What is the average price for a new piece?

Thanks!

Thanks!

Skywatch/Watch fashion on 3rd level People's pPark complex. Prob around 750-800? ( not too sure), but grey market set& their own warranty.

Big time is the other place which I believe ~$800 plus. Again, their own warranty.

Rogue hog mentioned Vivo city store managed by city chain with chio bu and good product knowledge plus similar price to BT but with TS warranty tho. Ask him to direct you?

These are the main places besides TS locally. Have fun in the hunt! ;)

You can also check prices with Higuchi, one of the well known Seiko dealers in Japan.

I purchased most of my JDM Seikos from him. My blue sumo was around US $555 about 2 years ago.

International warranty, any problem can go to TS.

He is also dealing with Orient & Orient Star.

Was searching the forum in regards to JDM Black Sumo, and saw your post.

I checked it up Higuchi's site, wow the price is great for it! Even adding the 7% GST upon reaching Singapore postal.

So it will be provided with international warranty? As I didn't see it being mentioned on his website. http://www.higuchi-inc.com" false;

Unless that's not the right one.

Thanks in advance! :)

This is the correct website. He usually under declare the price and there is no need to pay GST.

Warranty is international, so there is no issue.

Go get it. No regrets.

Re: Seiko JDM Sumo , SBDC001J .
Thanks to wish0635, in the end just ordered from Higuchi, price is good including shipping.

Has international warranty too!

Replies promtly, but took a few days before sending out (maybe no stock), then shipping took 2 days to reach Singapore only!

Overall a great experience buying from Higuchi!
Re: Seiko JDM Sumo , SBDC001J .
By the way, just to get input from Sumo users.

I know the rated accuracy of 6R15 is -15 to +25, and I observe mine is about -16/day.

Do you think I should let my watch run for a couple more weeks before sending for regulating?

As I was looking forward for the accuracy to be within +-5, rather than at the extreme end of -16...
Re: Seiko JDM Sumo , SBDC001J .
Mine runs a consistent +10sec/day since day 1.

I bought it brand new in 2010.

Usually you need a couple weeks of run in time and also depends on what u do during the day.

My advice is monitor for another couple weeks. If its still slow then go get it regulated if it bothers u.

I rotate watches every 2-3 days so sometimes +/- 15sec doesn't bothers too much.

Or if I'm going to be wearing the watch for a week straight on a work trip, I would set it 30-40sec slower so by the end of the week it's only +20-30sec fast.
