I was talking to one of the retailers couple of days ago... was stunned to be informed that TS tells them not to give big discounts to any potential buyers...the max permissible? 10% off listed price nia.

so... it's not surprising on the recent releases, the price now is sibeh ex.

perhaps they want to push other watches, perhaps quartz? but still, kinetic should have its own supporters... there is always the parallel import route.

Pricing of the recent PROSPEX range seems to be very controlled...yet the regulars... just came back from Mustafa, the 30% seems to be still valid. Up Up Down Down... very inconsistent...

According to shop owners I asked, Thong Sia is keeping tight control of the discount for these 50th anniversary special editions and limited editions. Normal range business as usual.

Besides the updated MM300, the SBDX017,



They seem to have updated the Landmaster with a SBDB015 and the MM600 with the SBDB011 too. :o

You can find it on the web for about US$350/- at the moment.



But the V198 movement is really tempting as its practically everything you can ask for in a daily watch. Solar+ Chrono + Perpetual Calender . Just short of 200m rating and maybe alarm ( but think most of us use our handphones for that now ?? ) . :lol:



There are some interesting JDM models of the V172 solar chronos too. The SBPY113 and 115 do remind me of the latest Brightz chronos.

The gold ( SSC274) is a V172, not a perpetual calender v198 though.

Wow the v198 looks good... Solar + perpetual calendar + chronograph + alarm...if the alarm sub dial time can be set to track another timezone in 24hr it will be purrrfect..

I went to Mustafa today for the second time... just to touch on the leather strap one with yellow accent on dial... very very buey tahan!

Too bad lah... this might not be available thru K2. I had barely seen K2 sell SPORTURA range of watches before...



By the way... the lug size is awkwardly 21mm. 22mm or 20mm nato/zulu might fit. But leather strap...

Not that difficult with some leather straps that can be trimmed.



Or can go for rubber straps. Most of them will allow for that 0.5mm trimming on either side.

I am oredi saving up for the SEIKO Racing Theme Solar-Leap-year-Chrono for 2016 purchase... hopefully by then, parallels comes in and i can save more for Automatics next year. Too many watches, too little $ juice...
