How do you store/display your collection?
So I got to wondering how everyone stores or displays their collection. Winders are the most obvious answer but I'm betting that's not everybody's solution. Would you like to share how you do it? Maybe post some pics?



I'm new to the scene so I just keep my very modest automatics collection with my camera in the dry cabinet, laying them flat on the tray inside. Only drawback is that I'll need to shake and set a watch if I've left it down for more than it's reserve.

I keep them in a wooden watch box with pillows for each watch.

Watches on daily rotation are just left on my jewellery tray though

Well, dry cabinet sounds good keep moisture out but watch out it may cause leather straps to dry out and crack.



Good tip is avoid storing them near strong magnetic sources.



For myself, I will add photos tonight. I store my watches in a simple 4-slot plastic case from daiso. They are stackable, I stack a few of them and keep them in the cupboard.



Boxes and their pillows goes to another storage area.



I don't believe in winders, so that's my method.

Roo7, I know what you mean about leather straps in that dry environment. Currently I only have metal bracelets and nylon straps: a few NATO/Zulus. Have seen some nice leather straps and if I stored them in there, I'll probably apply the same care that I use for my camera's leather cover: I remove the cover regularly to apply a buff of mink oil to moisturize the leather and keep it supple. Leave it to air overnight then return it to the cabinet. I'm anal about preventing fungus from sprouting where I don't want it. Especially applicable to lenses. And with regular wear, will leave a fine layer of organic material on the underside of your watches in the form of dead skin cells and grease: fungus food!! YUCK!



Lunarin79, the boxes look really nice. Especially the last one with the faux CF finish... Hmmm... I'd found a reference to SWX and they had a LOT of boxes offered by what seems like the same handful of people. I think I'll be trawling those posts over there again tonight.

Went looking online for solutions and finally settled on this:

Ard SGD60 after shipping. Almost identical to what was offered by someone on SWX but at half the price. I compared the photos but couldn't tell any difference other than the colour of the elastic retaining bands. Even the crimping looked the same.



And this case will fit into my dry cabinet. :)

Not feasible for me lei. Thought of it. 2 of my Gs are Solars, so always at my window getting healthy dose of sun light each day if I'm not wearing.



The other G is a DW5600E, my last time NSF Army days and current reservist watch.



My 2 Seikos, one is a BFK which I wear daily to keep its full '30 seconds' charge. The other I keep in drawer as the 7s26 movement damaged from a drop.



Maybe if I can scout for a cheapo box I might get one and throw all in. :D

Anyway I 'try' to practice this method for whatever I'm buying too. Sometimes is really cannot find buyer lor. Or after some time you find a buyer already, they quote you the price so low that, you rather keep the item / watch to yourself better.

I try not to buy new watchbox for my collections, have been practicing this 1 in 1 out method. So far so good. :mrgreen: must lun one....really. :lol:

I cent believe this owner spent so much $$$$$ on IWC Fliegers and not only one but 4! Yet keep them in Mooncakes boxes. Each at least 30k onwards leh, y so stingy?

I joined that forum for 3months oredi... and one thing i can be sure... there are big numbers of Hongkong Collectors of watches only consider IWC as true German, the others are just ...

Even with good built quality and budget friendly price, some FLIEGER Chronos like those from Steinhart or LACO or Archimede fails to capture most of the folks heart. They rather scrimp and save for long for a Sellitas SW500 IWC modified chrono that may cost them more than a year salary...

Maybe from this part: By 1978: IWC was owned by a german conglomerate which later became Mannesmann. Today IWC is a member of the Richemont luxury goods grp.
