How many of you own a TUNA ?

Re: How many of you own a TUNA ?

It comes with lug holes right? A decent quality toothpick and fingernails will do the job :D

Personally I find a strap changing has a higher chance of scratching the case especially if you are doing it for the first time :)

Ya that's what worries me haha, since my tuna is coated...

You could tape up the area around the lug to play it safe, I usually do that when using a spring bar tool :)
Re: How many of you own a TUNA ?
Hmm i actually managed to push out the spring bar with a really really slim screw driver...
Re: How many of you own a TUNA ?
Took the plunge and put my tuna onto a heavy duty black nato with PVD buckles..looks okay in my opinion and a lot more comfortable than the stock rubber strap with it's metal holder, let's just hope it won't destroy my caseback..... :ugeek:

Re: How many of you own a TUNA ?
Aas long as there's not much abrasion, you should be fine... but I seen wear and tear on casebacks..

Yup same for jem shop. 10% and 15% if above 8k I think. If ths dbs promotion on, the extra 5% applies even below 8k.

Even with the discount, the price is still higher than what I remember BT selling at. But of course you get the warranty direct from TS and Seiko, which I think may be worth the difference to some bros here.

That seems like a very high mark up.

Yodobashi lists it as MSRP 262,500 yen, Selling price 183,700 yen

Nice. Been also looking at the saen001 which has a black dial and black pvd bezel. Also maybe the coloured gmt hand would stand out a bit more than the white one in the sarn001. Did you manage to compare both before you got yours. Care to share how much you paid for yours? Can pm me if more convenient. Can also understand otherwise. Again great looking watch, wear it in good health bro.

Thanks for heads up. Unfortunately I am old fashioned and to handle/see the pieces before purchase. Especially a 4 figure buy like this. I may still change my mind if the poison flows deeper. Thanks again.
Re: How many of you own a TUNA ?
Okay fellow seiko lovers, this thread is to warn fellow owners of the sbbn023, please baby your tuna, never thought the quality of the hard coating is so poor...have been wearing it less than 5 days in all, and never bumped or scraped it at all so no idea how this could happen?

Part of the hard coating on the underside of the shroud has fallen off revealing shiny polished steel beneath...this part of the shroud never comes into contact with strap or wrist? So I am saddened and puzzled...
Re: How many of you own a TUNA ?
Wow. That part of the watch is know to have this problem but I did not think it would be so quick. My heart goes out to you man.

Well it like the first scratch on a new car. Now you need not baby it so much. But still... would this be still under warranty?
Re: How many of you own a TUNA ?
Some1 I know sent the watch back to japan for warranty claim. Now..... who told me that????

Wow that's fast, makes me wonder if Seiko uses the same PVD/Ion Plating process on the Golgo as its Seiko 5 models?
Re: How many of you own a TUNA ?

Wow that's fast, makes me wonder if Seiko uses the same PVD/Ion Plating process on the Golgo as its Seiko 5 models?

By right since the golgo tuna is more expensive compared to a Seiko 5, i would expect the coating process to be of higher quality and longer life span? But guess not? I do think it's a manufacturing issue. Surprisingly, the caseback which is in contact with my strap shows no sign of wear and tear or damage at all....

Anyone else with similar issue? Believe there are several golgo tuna owners here? Maybe i OCD or something but everytime i look at watch my eyes are drawn to the shiny metal bit ..my wife says screw it, it's a tool watch, just wear it, scratches, scuff marks, dings all normal...

Seen and heard a few cases locally, they all seem to happen around the same area on the watch too.

No issue with mine but its not a daily beater. Traveled with me before too and all no issue. so far so good. Sucks man, I would just send it to TS with the warranty card and see what they say. ;)

Enjoy the watch. That's the important part. If its giving you problems, time to let go. This is a hobby, enjoy it for what its worth. Any watch that is used will be subject to a higher chance of scratches, dings etc. Just part of life. ;)

If you like this red and black combo, go for the sardines. confirm no such problem :)
Re: How many of you own a TUNA ?
I thought PVD coating is very tough. This seems to me like merely black paint on stainless steel, just like die cast toy cars. Unacceptable.

Agree with you that dings and scratches are part of normal wear and tear while using and wearing the watch. But I think the issue here is what happened did not seem to fall under normal wear and tear. The owner rightly feels puzzled and agrieved as I feel that he should expect that a watch which he paid not a small sum, bought from a reputatable company to have a certain level of quality and assurance.

I think he is right to persue the matter through the AD but as the watch was bought in Japan, he may have to send it back there himself if no international warranty was issued.

Then again, like you said, it is just hobby, enjoy it for what its worth. No need to go overboard. Worse case, chalk it up as one of those things in life. This is also what makes this hobby interesting.. :)

I thought Seiko uses their own ion plating and not really pvd...? Thought I read it somewhere.

Re: How many of you own a TUNA ?
So I ordered a sbbn015. And then I found used sbbn007 on sale. Bought them BOTH. Haha

And they both arrived this morning! I was only expecting to receive the sbbn015 since it was shipped first. But both arrived at the same time. Haha super lucky.

But now i have a problem I don't know if I should keep both or sell one. So tempted to keep both watches. I think I'm quite sure about keeping the sbbn007 cos I've always wanted it. Don't know if I should keep the sbbn015 since it's almost the same. What do you guys think?
