Re: CASIO
who says no one love Casio. I start out loving Casio back in early days and still have Casios mah...used to have a whole pile of them in these series(but sold off);

-vintage DW5xxx series right up to DW6xxx series (5000, many 5200,many 5600C,5400,5300 x2,5900,6000,6100,6300 froggy,6400 gundam x 2, 6500,6600 x few,6800 (listed in US navy pilot kit), 6900 x few,vintage risemen......many more

*square series iconic DW5XXX abt over 35-40 riao..

-modern to sub vintage DW5600 series (maybe ard 6)

-vintage sensor series(temperature, barometer, blood pressure) *strength unknown

-Vintage gadget and games(Ultra rare TM-100,various games and many more)

*strength unknown

-JDM (MIMB Risemen, stealth GW5600)

Anytime will have about a hundred Casios...they are really cool watches especially vintage gadget series.

Anyway I change all the batteries myself and do all those repair(if they in condition to repair)..so try to change the batteries yourself,as easy as ABC... just need to get good source for batteries(fakes does exist!) ,some screw drivers and plastic+metal tweezer can riao..
Re: CASIO
Need a good tools but don't know where to get one

I read the step online and wow... Open this and that... In website it looks easy... But I guess if I open myself... Jialat...

How long the battery can last for g-shock? The 2016 battery is looks massive big and can last for 4 to 5 years?

I will do research what type of battery... But the killer snake most likely is 2016

4 to 5 years depends on many conditions riao but I dont expect so long(never timed also)..

I am looking at 2-3 years nia for most watches I have especially these kinda of huge divers.

sometimes I use multimeter test the volt 'left' in it although its suppose to new. Old stock/dusty batteries in some shops sure will be lower in voltage than those recent replaced stocks.

many factors like how many times you press light/illuminator,sound/alarm per day and any functions that may require slightly higher voltage.

When to know its time to change battery?

- whenever you press the illum/light button and whole screen appears dim/blank.

2016 is safe and easy battery to get cos everywhere also sell....photoshop/watchshop/some bookshop/mama shop etc..
Re: CASIO
My first watch was a Casio and I got 2 with me now. One for running and one for...so far keeping :D
Re: CASIO
Wah, bro Osim is very good in watch world, u know a lot ya... I learn a lot from you...

I like to play the led light, hope that won't drain the batt very fast...

Any lobang for more gshock frogman?
Re: CASIO
no lar...I not that good lar...some bros is good in Casio too but they diam diam nia..

I just talking from experience.

Anyway I find for Vintage digital watches wise, Casio's PCB quality is the best and often can revive as compare to citizen(can take years and years of good use). Seiko is on par with Casio for quality but Casio to me is easier to work with, easier to revive.

Re: CASIO
Used to love G-Shock and still do. But i hated the rubber casing. They dont last as long as metal casing, mine hardened and crack/chip in less than 2 years. Btw, i had them undergone real bad working conditions.

not everyone buy gshock for fashion purpose I guess.

But casing wise is cheaper if you change one...imagine you wear a metal case watch and gone through the same condition as your gshock did... I guess dings and scratches are unavoidable and if you change the casing... More ex

my brother still have the 93's dw-6900 and rubber harden and scratches everywhere...

Buy hey, isn't it that's what gshock for? Something other watches can't do

me like ;)
Re: CASIO

"pst666"

i know you all dont like casio.

i like i like casio. Its my trash watch. But the strap very easy break wan, if u really trash it hard.

i remember someone asked where got cheap cheap casio right? Mustafa!

Re: CASIO
That one looks like... Easily break lol
Re: CASIO
easy break= straps but the shell/casing isnt and is as tough as other G Shock, Of course only for authentic ones. reprod casio can be found in Sg for almost same price as fake. For example the basic F-91W shown in pics.

I bought one during NS days and it served me well,at times during some 'chaotic evolution' ,Physical trainings and swims. Think it sunk to bottom of pool after one training.
Re: CASIO
Wah, and it is on after drowned?

Not bad then...wondering how to push down the price until $50 also we can get a nice casio watch...my gf just bought look alike frank mueller one lol...

I surf yahoo japan this morning... It's not cheap for vintage frogman there :(
Re: CASIO
those f91s are the best ns watch, light, comfy, low profile to not snag on anything, no batt already just throw buy new one  just dont kena insect repellent, even the resin on a g will also corrode lol
Re: CASIO
g-shocks just get a few can liao, dun go too overboard like moi ;)

Re: CASIO
CASIO was one of the must-have tool watches during my school days and I have bought & scrapped several over the years.

had a G-shock during my army daze from 1985~1988 which went through the sands in Kanchanaburi, climbed over the hills in ROC & bashed thru the jungles of Brunei with me. it was a tough one! had to scrapped it when it literally died & "disintegrated" some time after my ROD.

my next most expensive CASIO bought in the early 90s, a Fisherman which costs well over S$400, was bought for me as a birthday present by my then girl-friend, now my wife la :) it was worn sparingly & also accompanied me on another bash thru the jungles of Brunei during reservist. it has also since died & "disintegrated". :( :(

here are my current CASIOs...

1. CASIO Edifice EFX-500SP

- I will consider it an impulse buy as I hv hardly worn it (3 times?) since I bought it >2 yrs ago in 2008. it will appear in the Buy/Sell section soon. pls PM me if interested. :)

2. CASIO G-Shock GA-110DR-1AJR (DEE & RICKY LE)

- Bought 02 at a bargain over the bay before the "craze" over it. Sold 01 & keeping 01 pc for my boy. ;)

3. CASIO King Of G-Shock GX-56-1A

- it's gonna be my beater. I believe MeePokMan is selling/ sold his recently.

how much u sold your triple crown bro?

Is 500 a good price for it? Is it rare?
Re: CASIO
Nice to see a Casio thread.... looks like an indispensable watch in anyone's collection history. Here's mine (what used to be mine anyway) ...

This one has seen lots of action.... colour has faded, even the pastic is peeling.

This one has been through only 2 high key ICTs

and 1 Europe trip (atomic sync in action travelling on a coach). Walked into Wempe at Cologne (Germany) with this one to look for a Nomos.

Re: CASIO
nice watches sys12345 bro... I got a camo mudman too... but sold off riao.. nice orange illum and whole color is like camo..

mudman is a tough watch and the only ppl got to complain is that the buttons are hard to press... but that's what it gives, extra protection against mud penetration...
Re: CASIO
I collected G-shocks for a while but sold most of them and kept just a handful now, cos tio poisoned by seiko auto after reading the hwz threads

G-shock is getting more expensive these days. even the bencoolen shops have raised their prices. :(

ya slight price increase but still one of the best best price locally and even better than most online sellers. And best you get to try it on and will get poison by different color of same watches.... Last hoot there was my G7900 set
Re: CASIO
Thanks oOsiMn! The one thing i didnt quite like about the Mudman are the buttons!!! They are really stiff and they dont appear to get much softer with time. U can get bruised finger tips if u play around with it for a while (especially when u try to get that illusive atomic sync to work here!). :x

ya bo bian...whole wide world collectors also think its too stiff but think its because of the thick layer of material at the buttons area.. but shiok lar...cos you know that watch will not fail you with the cute icon at backcase...

sometimes go bencoolen you see mudman/gulfman etc kinda watch, you see see long long rial still cannot decide which color to buy,in the end hoot both..or even a few.. go back then decide..

to me the modern tough + rugged g shock and most affordable would be Gulfman and Mudman. The G7900 is also cheap and chio with 'Wide temp LCD' but too huge and bit cartoon on small wrist IMO..

Actually mudman buttons not that bad lah. Will get used to it after a while.

Gulfman is nice... The GW9100 is especially chio.
Re: CASIO
gulfman & mudman are good models to mod, here's mine, stealth mod..way before the Stealth versions were launched

stripped away original red paints on wordings & dyed black, reverse the lcd to negative display

mudman, original

after mod

gulfman, original

how long ago you bought it sir?

and how good is solar tough vs battery in your opinion.

while i read some online thingie, its like 50 50

some g-shock will last 10 yrs with battery if you dont set alarm and with a maximum 2 or 3 times backlight on

but heard some solar tough also has a problem, battery faulty after you keep to long or never charge. its like electric shocked and makes the battery cant recharge properly once you try to charge it again.

let me know ok. arigato

err, shld be ard 2-3yrs back

solar & batt ar, for my case i have no issues with my solar Gs but my friend bought a riseman, the solar batt was faulty, within a mont, the watch uplorry, haha

i don't use any function nor do i set the Auto EL oso, i tink Auto EL drains the batt life pretty fast
Re: CASIO
I never like to buy solar powered watches as I have no idea on how to fix it when it uplorry. I just trust a normal battery quartz more than this technology. Besides,I do not wear that particular watch everytime and no place at home to let it sunbath and charge up. Indoor lighting will takes ages to have it charge up compare to sunlight.

Anyway the solar watches does have this special battery (rechargable) size is same as CR2016 or fatter..but slightly more expensive. If the watch uplorry, have to check the solar panel ,is it link to the battery properly, battery itself and also the capacitor?...not so sure riao..so its not completely batteryless...

Nope, the G2500 is 4 screw caseback and non-solar. The G2300 is stylo, but I prefer non-solar and chrome buttons like those found on the 5600 and 6900 series.

Yah I got PPCDL. I drive boat for work.

That pic was taken when driving safety boat at MOE campsite in Jalan Bahtera. Sometimes I drive at Jurong Lake in Chinese Garden also.

This is my concern, i find it troublesome once it spoilt.... solar panel link to this and that la... and with a bad review for Casio singapore.

battery still the best, though its not so eco-friendly...

anyway where to fix casio locally other than Casio service center...

I remember K2 sell some casio watches, so can i assume that mr goh know how to fix it?

heard about a company called marco, used to join venture with casio, they are the one who servicing casio watch but they allience no more...
Re: CASIO
http://www.marco.com.my/Singapore/index.html" false;

its marco marketing at my hse area, henderson.

there can get bezel/straps or parts for casio...

I think all shops wouldnt make fixing digital watches as pirority compare to auto/mechan cos they cant earn on much on fixing digitals. And also think most are not famaliar with electronic circuits. So its case by case basis...

casio watches still ok cos its reliable and wun anyhow go uplorry unless its something serious. But when its something serious then you need look for the circuit board or parts riao.. probably marco/service center?

I freelance only. Friend is manyzer at MOE campsite in Jalan Bahtera so I go direct thru him. Company that pays me is Camp High Achievers. $70/day, 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm, but always delay end up touch water only at 10-11am. Lunch provided.

At Jurong Lake, is for People's Association Water-Venture. $55/day, 10am-5pm. No lunch.

Re: CASIO
G2300 was my first G, mine ish going to up lorry soon, can't hold full charge for long. Bought in 2006, trashed a few years before being retired to drawer queen status.

Its got the best G-shock basic module in my opinion. nice tight display, shows time day date month and year! Can act seh while u fiddle to key in that chiobu's number in club while holding the backlight  , can also program your own time zones when modern ones are all preset at hourly increments. You can program the timer to countdown seconds, something you don't see in Gs these days. Size not too big not too small also, looks garang. The newer gw2300 display looks kinda like its missing something to me

The GDF-100-1AER looks like those chiong Gs from far lei, maybe bezel not angular enough. Now should camp for the latest mudman, heard coming out in june, got digital compass somemore
