Deutsch Zeitmesser : Steinhart

Deutsch Zeitmesser : Steinhart
This brand has been gaining a lot of popularity overseas as well as locally.

Bros, what are your take on its future and will it be the next sinn (acquired by HG or other horological giants),

thus sky-rocketing its value?
Re: Deutsch Zeitmesser : Steinhart
STEINHART's ability to gain popularities is partly due to its low-profile marketing strategies, where no public figures are employed to promote their products. Control in staffing also plays a part in getting the costs down. Hence, with their "general priced" tags, most folks would shift away from ultra budget TISSOT and go for STEINHART instead. Ask yourself... lets say, now there are 2 watches placed in front of you, a STEIHART Ocean 1 @ SGD600 vs TISSOT divers model priced @ SGD700, both rated @ 300m WR. Which will you choose?

(for 700SGD, i can get this...)

However, when compare to UHR, STEINHARTs price could be a little high. But when we look closely, UHR's catalogue models are mostly OEMs, and you can find splitting images elsewhere. Low-profiled marketing strategies like no stars advertising factors also plays some part in keeping the selling price low.

UHR had a winning stage currently over STEINHART, is not only the lower price tag, but also the unknown fact on how many people behind the operation such that prompt order processing service can be finished within a few hours of transaction And its a big contrast in STEINAHRT.

Just look at this thread and you'll know...

http://forums.watchuseek.com/f275/perhaps-thread-steinharts-order-processing-576889.html" false;

Since now STEIHART popularity is growing in overwhelming speed, i see that STEINHART will eventually hit themselves on their foot due to large demand over small numbers of staff in processing stage. If they are to be sold off to bigger companies, such as maybe example... like SWATCH group, most likely their products would be marketed with price tags close to the level of HAMILTONs.

In order to reach the SINN status... STEINHART has to be acquired by bigger and expensive watch group, such as G.O or A.L.S, then marketed as their sub category product.

Steinhart mostly are homage. Iirc, there is only 2 watches that are not homages.

If they need to break thru, the designs better be something tasteful and not copying others and putting their name on it.

STEINHART's designs are getting better and better that they are shifting themselves from making homages.

However, if we're to look back at other watch makers, even SEIKO and ORIENT have their fair share of homage models as well... so, it would be natural for new brand/labels to make homage pieces first, accumulate their earnings, before going full force on their own designs.

TRITON, PROTEUS, APOLLON are STEINHARTs first few range that are non homage. So as the upcoming Ocean2 divers. Also look out for the gran-prix special auto chrono that's coming up in middle of the year as well.

Bro ED, though the Steinhart Grand Prix pays homage to the Chopard Grand Prix De Monaco Historique Chronograph.

Nevertheless, its a nice piece all round :)
Re: Deutsch Zeitmesser : Steinhart
Humm, maybe to attain to SINN status, is kinda over the top.

I would think, to be able to come close to Meistersinger or even Nomos Glashütte, is still job well done for the company :D

Definitely worth getting. Considering the price with shipping @ around SGD1.4k(gnomo @ abt 1.5), HAMILTONs with elabore movements priced more than that... STEINHARTs is more VFM lo.

that's arranged in order by price right?

the archimede pilot chrono is quite nice too.
Re: Deutsch Zeitmesser : Steinhart
Comparing ARCHIMEDE FLIEGER Chrono to STEIHART, the only difference you'll see is that the date window is placed at 6oclock position, while STEINHART's date window is opened in a tradditional position of 3 o'clock. ARCHIMEDE lacks of a day window, STEINHART comes with.

Of all the 3 you have listed, STEINHART is definitely a better budget buy... but if you want something that have resale value... you have to pay more for SINN.

By the way... the way you arrange the brands in sequence, it's from budget to expensive... ARCHIMEDE is about 1.8k if i'm not wrong...SINN more higher.

Sinn is definitely out. :D

but i noticed the Archimede is sized at 42mm and a matt/satin finish, while the Steinhart is at 44mm with a brushed finish.

the day window may be a selling point for some, but personally i'm ok without the day window :?

the crowns are also different.

i think i need to compare them both side by side.
Re: Deutsch Zeitmesser : Steinhart
Even with brushed finish, the STEINHART dial will be a real eye catcher with the complementing lume used. Archimede so far have not seen with snap shots posted in other forums... so really couldn't tell how much good it will look.

I think you can check on brudder sys12345 post for a good look on the STEINHART 44 Nav Chrono.

Thx bro.

I think it's best to take a trip to gnomon and compare both side by side.
Re: Deutsch Zeitmesser : Steinhart
Just to let you know, the STEINHART Nav Chrono @ Gnomon is not available with bracelet, only leather strap. If you get the bracelet from them, it will cost you much more than you order straight full set from Germany.

My own opinion, i feel pilot watches looks best on leather...

Classic design and engineering precision come together in this outstanding pilot's chronograph. The movement is the rugged, yet highly accurate, Swiss-made ETA 7750 automatic. The finely crafted three-piece stainless steel case is available in either finely brushed or black PVD finish. The oversized diamond crown and large pushers make using this watch a pleasure. Under the sapphire crystal, the black dial features clear luminous hands and numbers and discreet date at six o'clock.
Re: Deutsch Zeitmesser : Steinhart
The Ocean Vintage Military is an absolute stunner, I got it for less than $600 from Anders of Gnonmon.

Only thing I wish for is that it could a little smaller at 39.5mm or 40mm. 42mm is a handsome size, especially on a blue-grey NATO - but it's not "vintage" in terms of size.

All in all, I'm still lovin it! Cheerios to Anders and Christine.

Sorry to dig up such an old thread, but just curious... To order the Nav-B Chrono II direct from Steinhart's website would only come up to about 1.1k max, why would anyone still want to get it from Gnomon? I'm a little confused...
Re: Deutsch Zeitmesser : Steinhart

Brudder Lun had stated one part of the factor which why some collectors in SG preferred to get from Gnomon, Yes... save that hassle of sending back to Germany.

But if we're to look back more than a yr ago, when 1euro was to 2+SGD, during that time if you order from Germany straight, the savings is only 100 or 200 dollars, compare to now when 1euro to 1.53SGD... you get more than 200 dollars savings...

Back to Gnomon, their list price now is base on USD. It will be that figure all the way until the next price adjustment. There won't be any toning down as well, even if there's such as day when 1USD might fall on par with 1SGD.

I got both my steinharts from gnomon. Reasons are simple.

1) I like to physicLly see and try the watch first. It might look good on print but might not look that great on your wrist.

2) convenience. Like bros mentioned. Should any issues arise, we can just send it to gnomon. If you get direct, you,ll have to arrange to ship it back yourself.
