I always like to do pullups as best upper body 'transformation 'V' exercise'... it works in so much areas better than the gym machines but of course to be big,you really need to alternate between the machine where u can secure yourself properly and pull down a heavy load(lat pulldown varation and also the lat rowing machine are best of best)

else also an do single dumbell row..

pullpull training can also be done in so many ways... wouldnt get bored de..

i tried before is 12-20 sets of normal pullups..

each set varies; from 12 minimal to 16...but first 2 sets are max to 20.

my personal record for ippt is 30 pullups.

so say if you suppose to do one set(among many many sets)of 20pullups...but you exhausted riao even u rested riao..what you can do is to divide them say 12 pullups first..then come down...then go do 8...then rest n go up do 6 again...its like overloading..

ya must watch out... if during weight lift exercise you see own posture starts to become weird or non neutral, most prob weight too heavy so got to reduce or use the back brace, support from benches,walls,etc...else can always use machine for heavy weight..
Re: The Exercise Thread
For myself, I was lucky to have a really good gym trainer in my previous company for about 2 years++, so I learnt a lot from him and corrected a lot of the movements and postures, even worked out a proper training plan.

Then I continued another 3 years+ at SPGG, also up and down but I was maintaining at least 3 times a week schedule till I was so overloaded with work. :(

So now I still have most of the mass that I gain from my past 3 years but I stopped for 5 months already, added more unwanted mass around the mid section

Well I will be back to my iron diet tomorrow ! Hopefully, I can train almost every day and slim down just in time for CNY  2.5 weeks to go
Re: The Exercise Thread
wow impressive man, and very inspiring!!!
Re: The Exercise Thread
bowling for me

used to like running when i was active in NS but had grown lazy aft ORD.

haha progressive chin up can be challenging but not as a civilian,LOL
Re: The Exercise Thread
Ok, this is my exercise history (must emphasize history heehee)

I used to be athletics in secondary school, long-jump and triple-jump. So did a lot of speed and jump training. JC was eye-exercise (see girls and read books) mostly, didn't do much serious exercise except the ocassional cycling. Uni was probably my peak - I was in dragonboat, a lot more vain, and clubbed a lot so had multiple motivation to hit the gym. The gym I used was the school's, and I'd go three times a week. As I stayed in a dorm, I also had a out-of-gym daily routine to keep the pump there - 88 chin-ups, 500 push-ups. I used mostly machines in the gym, and seldom use free-weights. Diet-wise I was on eggs, glucose+creatine monohydrate (glucose to trigger the insulin response), fish, and generally ate a lot. I abstained from caffiene then because it dehydrates the body. Those bros whom we've met before, I am 76kg now, back then I was about 95kg. In OCS my chin-ups were minimum 30 during IPPT. All that's left of the glory days are that my nipples still point down thanks to residual pecs (you know how for guys who never work their pecs their nipples point forward).

After that I golfed a bit, dived a bit, cycled a bit, ran two to three half-marathons. And then I sustained some injuries that interfered more and more with exercising, especially weight-training and running.

Now I eat more and more, keep the nutrients in better and better.

I used to be able to do one arm push up but never one arm pull up... I must emphasis hor I used.... now with a pot belly very difficult to slim down even when I went for jogging 3X/wk.... b'cause I ate more afterward... LOL...

I do hit gym once a week in the past just to strengthen but never put on mass, every gym time can lasts for 2-3hrs... 60reps/set for 3 sets with light weigh, follow by 30 reps/set for 3 sets with moderate weigh. End up got cutting but bo simi mass.... now I barely hit gym (too lazy) but do jog once a while after my baby girl was born....

this picture has been the joke in the climbing world for ages.

Y?

Slyvester Stallone is soloing - meaning he is climbing a mountain without a partner and climbing gears.

The funny part is, why r the gears there for? Ha ha ha ..... U guys get the joke?

Solo means no rope or gear up. As well as they come down.

If they fall, they die. Simple as that.

So we usually assess the climb and do what's within our means when we solo. That being said, not many climbers willing to take this kind of risk.

They r few who constantly do it, overseas climbers, but if u ask me, I won't do it. Siao ah.

:D
Re: The Exercise Thread
Wow. Everybuttie so fit here.

The last two years I never exercise at all.

At uni I was alternating between running (3km) / swimming / gym on weekdays then basketball on weekends.

Ever since my son came its been family time on wknds.

Only free time I get is after 10pm. By then I already punctured.

Bought a bike not so long ago and was going for 1-1.5hr rides every night after 10pm. But since rainy season I stopped.

Reading every bro's exercise regime motivate me to start riding and swimming again. :
Re: The Exercise Thread
i used to hit e gym b4 entering NS coz i PTP batch... used to go SSC gym, reading up on fitness, whack myoplex ( strawberi, gd taste(imo) n on half price that time ), diet of potato, egg white n vit B complex( recommended by those fit fit guys in e gym ) until i sick of it. after ORD, slack all e way until decide 2 run marathon n my last marathon is 2007  .
