rubber hoot

rubber hoot
hoot finally arrived from austria! shipped on 16th aug

knn open up my isofrane box abit prata already.

1st impression is that its not as chunky as i thought, maybe because its 20mm

Strap

very faint vanila smell

matte finish, doesn't suck lint up

finishing is not bad at the sides. the faint uniform molding mark seemed to be intentional. but lug area could have been better for the price.

calamari keepers looks very thin :?

strap width does not taper

strap thickness tapers from lug hole to tip

slightly stiffer than silicone strap

strap is designed in such a way that the tail won't look too long even if you are at the first hole unlike your usual seiko PU straps

lug hole leans very close to the edge, meaning if your watch is a sumo with that infamous wide gap it would look even wider. it looks farking thin also vs my other strap, damn scared of poking the fat seiko bars inside. i mounted the normal seiko bars for now, has a little play as its thinner than the lug hole.

Buckle

milled buckle and tang, secured with screwbar. feels solid

the step in the tang works great in keeping the rubber flat down. i worry about the longevity of the slots though, as you will be flexing in very often to get it into the stepped tang.

fits my 6 inch wrist at the 2nd hole.

1st hole for tight fit, 2nd hole for the 1 finger space.

mounted on SBCM023, lug to lug about ~41mm

pics maybe later
Re: rubber hoot
gxgx bro!

I've never seen a 20mm isofrane before, but the 24mm isn't as you described. Enjoy the straps! I love mine very much

bro seiko fat spring pin easily go through anot :?:

it wl shrink the 22mm abit leh, not suitable lor
Re: rubber hoot
just massage outwards the compressed rubber at the lug to get the width back.

once fat bars go in it will be very very very hard to take out. what other bars do you guys use?

anyone mounted seiko dive fatties on those seiko non-divers (those that uses skinny bars)? interested to know if the springbars can sit properly in.

if can sit properly in = all the seiko lug hole size are standard.

because seiko non fatties tips are much thinner, so it sits more on the springbar's flanges.

worried that if wriggle too much will probably wear out the lug hole faster.
Re: rubber hoot
as promised, gpgt lol

the chui box

on the 2nd hole

i adjusted to 1st hole, strap overhang still looks manageable

the brushed buckle

very fine grain texture on the strap

the side edge finish, notice the faint molding line and inner ribbings

lug hole is very close to the edge vs my other silicone strap. isofrane is below

rough dimensions and comparison against harold's 15usd silicone rubber

the isofrane is not really black black like the other piece

fat and skinny bar differences. it is currently mounted on skinnies

the outside edges of the buckle is nicely brushed, including the tang.

however i am very disappointed to discover that the inner edge of the buckle is barely finished at all, did any fellow owners noticed that?

mine even had visible tooling marks and even deep gorges on one of the inside edge.

checked back their website, their polished buckles are polished on all edges inside out, same for PVD and sandblasted. so brushed should be all brushed also.

Re: rubber hoot
Molest this x rubber strap before.... try it on..... real long and on the first two hole.... quality very good! Tempt to hoot also but hor.... too many things for me going liaoz..... here need to spend and there need to spend.....
Re: rubber hoot
on the 1st hole of harold's i can only get a very loose fit

both strap are very similar in hole placement ~50mm from lug to first hole. but the iso can fit smaller due to a slightly shorter tang side of about ~5mm

buckle design also play a part.

although iso's buckle looks damn big, when the strap is buckled it sits in the middle of the buckle due to the unique tang design, so only need to factor half the buckle length vs normal buckles.

emailed them about the buckle with some pics, was told they are hand finished so sometimes might have imperfections but the gorges are unacceptable.

a replacement is being sent. all resolved in 1 email response this is what i call chop chop swee swee customer service!!

Bro u can buy SDF springbars from ebay store Fasci Stainless Steel Watch Gear.

looks for the SDF springbars with 1.1mm ends... these are the ones that is same size ends as the seiko fat springbars.

example: SPRING BARS STAINLESS STEEL 22x1.78mm SDF 1.1mm ENDS

I have bought a few for when I want silicone or leather straps on my divers.

It has body of a normal springbar (so can fit easily into straps) and ends of a fatty (so won't wriggle and damage lug holes)! :D

Isoprene straps. Got Hirsch, but price almost same as when order online. I think cheaper online since it's in USD.

Nope didn't see any other straps except morrelatto and Hirsch.

I use to force in fatties into the strap, but these SDF springbars are much better solution.

U can also use it with the OEM bracelets that don't accept fatties.

And it's cheap!
