Another MM300 vs Rolex comparison

Another MM300 vs Rolex comparison
the recent post on the MM300 vs Rolex DSD generated quite a good discussion, although i feel it may not be the best direct comparison.

i found this MM300 vs Rolex Sub Date booked marked in my comp.

it may be a better comparision between two 300m divers... what do you guys think?

Re: Another MM300 vs Rolex comparison
I agree with you totally. This is basically comparing an apple with an orange. Similarly, I came across a thread comparing the Omega Moonwatch with the Rolex Daytona! They are different watch all together and their prices are miles apart too! Well, let's enjoy what others write and say so that there could be more participation to keep the forum alive! :D

Thanks for the read! I always enjoy reading such reviews, and viewing the beautiful photos.

Personally I would snap a well-priced MM300 over a well-priced Sub, because we're WIS and believe the hype. Subs are very available, so purchasing one can be done anytime.

My watch-wearing habits are such that I seldom wear anything that came to me mint. So even mint SKXs in my possession don't get much wrist time. I baby vintages as well so those don't see much wrist time either. So, by this logic, if I feel like a seiko diver today, it is likely to be one of my already beat-up SKX, and likely never the MM300. And therefore all the technical competence of the MM300 is really academic to me.

I take a different attitude towards the sub. It is a watch that I will use as daily beater, if I feel like a Swiss tool watch today. It is very available, easily serviced, not rare, and less my Explorer 2s the sub is one of the cheapest Rolex sports I own.

Something I will baby (I'd never know when Seiko might decide to discon the 171!)

Something I won't baby (and therefore more wrist time, and more relevance of the tech specs)
