Hi guys!



I just bought a second hand watch (Sumo) from a guy in the US. He said when he tried to send the watch through USPS they told him he can't ship watches to Singapore (and also China). He want to ship with tracking and insurance which requires declaring the item being ship.



Is this correct? How do you guys buy watches overseas and having them shipped to Singapore?

Will there be other fees when receiving the watch here in Singapore?

Should be doable though it involves additional custom forms.



Question to all: Has anybody tried usa2everywhere? My wife in the Philippines uses it and only takes 2 weeks to get stuff deliver from the US.

I bought watches new from shop in US before more than once and shipping wasn't an issue.

Hmm. Their website does say it prohibits sending of "jewelry" to Singapore. Have you guys thought of using FedEx or DHL?

I send and received parts, watches from US too.

Thats sound like BS to me.

That doesn't sound right to me. Singapore does not prohibit watches to be sent in from other countries. Same goes for China as I have sent watches to China from Singapore, a seagull and a Seiko for a friend.



Ask the seller to use FedEx, DHL etc..



This is not an issue with Singapore customs as watches are certainly not on their list of prohibited items.

Well, I did use paypal.



I just created a thread on the other side to bring the case a little bit out of the open.

Hopefully the situation gets handled without further problem. Perhaps he was just being helped by uninformed staff at the post office.



I'll also give him a link to this thread so that he can see for himself.

Its not an issue as long as item is declared.



Bought lots of stuff from the US over the past 10~14 years. Watches included.



Or ask him to send to Borderlinx ( you just need to register ) .



I think he's talking BS, either that or he under-quoted you on the shipping costs and is having cold feet now when he got the actual shipping costs to SG from the USPS. Or, he's just plain lazy when it saw the forms from sending the item. Its actually the same everywhere when you ship overseas... possibly a 'virgin international shipper'.... :p



But experience is, for small items, USPS is still way, way cheaper and their efficiency barely loses out to the couriers. It can take about 6~8 days from the East Coast to SG, the best was via FedEx once, it took a cool 48 hours from tracking start time in Chicago. Average courier time required is about 4days.
