From 42mm to 38mm

Hey guys. Ever since I got my SKX007 last month, I'm enjoying the watch that I wear it everday (replaced my fossil chrono).



Now I feel like expanding my Seiko collection, leaning specifically to the Seiko 5. It being 38mm, smaller than the 42mm of the 007, I'm hoping to find if any of you felt that the change didnt suit your taste? That being used to the size of SKX, you'd rather pick something bigger than Seiko 5?

I avoided some nice Seiko 5s due to their small size cos I'm too used to wearing divers but that's just me. You can go and try them on and see whether u like it.

No doesn't matter to me, I've got watches from 34mm to 44mm. At long as you are comfortable.

BTW, the green Seiko 5 is nice.

That's what I feel right now. I'll be heading out to check some 5s and see if it's comfy/not too small for me or not.

Great to hear. I'll be wearing these 5s as a dress watch. Yep it is! It's my poor version of the Alpinist :lol:

Is it because you have a big wrist size, hence, you don't want anything smaller? My wrist size is just 6 inches.

Too big, you can't slip it underneath your cuffs. Too small, looks weird on short sleeves tees and berms.



So it depends on your dress code as well. If I'm wearing formal, below 40 is fine.



I have a 60mm vintage diver 80mm with crown but it's just really silly to put in on.

I think most seiko5 wear small due to crown being tiny and at 4 o'clock. Would hunt for one with crown at 3 ?

for a dress watch, I feel 38mm (w/o crown) is a good size), 40mm is still acceptable but not more than 41mm

When wearing long sleeves, anything around 38 to 40mm is fine.

When on short sleeves, bigger than 41mm is great.

35mm to 38mm is a good size for a dress watch. For casual and short sleeve wear, 40mm to 47mm look good.

Yeah I think over 40mm is big for a dress watch. That's why I'm turning away from the bambino: looks good but too big for a 6 inch wrist. That's just me.

Not nice to see something bulging out from beneath the shirt sleeve. So big watches may not be suitable as a dress watch.

Guys, my stand is firm: 5% the watch, 95% the guts of the owner. I wear my Ecozilla at work and close deals as usual. Cheers!

First gen Bambino 40.5mm case size, I like.

For me, I like my dive watches to be as big as possible. 40mm is the minimum. But for dress watches, my 36mm is near perfect for slipping under a shirt cuff. Anything larger than 38 I would find too big for dress watch.



At the end of the day, everybody's wrists and tastes are different. Try the watch(es) on and listen to your heart. You'll just know if it works or not, regardless of how many mm the watch actually is.

For yrs I also question myself what size is best suit for a classic design dress watch. I always pay attention to others wrist with dress watch and I think it should be not bigger than 39mm. 36-38mm are my favorite. I have 2 similar design Seikos dress watches and the 40mm one seems a bit "hollow" and the 38mm one seem better proportioned and sweet.

Right and from the looks of things, preferred size for dress is below 40mm. Alot of nice dress watches fall under that size as well for the same reason it will look good as a dress watch.

I think it all depends on your wrist size. My 36 - 38mm watch looks darn small without me wear long sleeves. I have a wrist size of about 7 3/8"

Depends on your wrist and tastes. I never measure my wrist but I have watches between 36mm to 42mm and have no problems till now
