Reviving An Injured Watch
Dear Learned Brothers,I was given a watch a long while ago when I was younger n more ignorant. The watch was left under extreme lamp heat to dry and the chapter ring was hence damaged. When I went to a watch shop to check whether it can be fixed. the salesperson just clip the tip of the second hand down in size. I was totally shocked, exclaimed and asked him what did he do, he answered me that would enable the second hand to move around the "shrunk" chapter ring. I blew my top but there was nothing that can be meaningfully salvaged from the episode. That incident happened many years back and there is no point crying over "broken hand". Still angry n sad nonetheless.
The important point is I hope to restore this watch with a matching, if not original, chapter ring and second hand. I live in Tampines but would not mind travelling if there is reasonable expertise for this work. I am not looking for perfection but a decent price and workmanship would really be appreciated. Or even any source for the parts?
Any suggestions please? Thank you so much in advance for the help.
Sincere regards.
