Just returned from Tokyo... (photo intensive)

Hi guys,



Just returned from a 7 day trip to Tokyo. Travelling from place to place took a loooong time but still managed to squeeze in a visit to the Seiko Museum (to some consternation from my SO who was dragged along for the trip :cry: )



Journey from Shinjuku took about 45 minutes. When we alighted from the subway, we were faced with a walk through housing estates with no directional signs whatsoever...





But after about 15 minutes of walking by dead reckoning, the target came into view!









I had called a day before to make an appointment (visits are by appointment only, or so it was stated), and we were welcomed at the entrance by an English speaking guide. She spoke good English, turns out she had spent some time in the states before returning to Japan. Sad thing is, I never caught her name... No photo of guide, how about a photo of the entrance instead :mrgreen:







We were brought through a quick introduction on horology, ranging from sundials, to grandfather clocks, and even ancient Japanese timekeeping equipment. The attempt to create a holistic experience on horology, and not just a purely Seiko walkthrough, was commendable. There was much to see and learn even for non Seiko enthusiasts.















From here on... I shall let the photos do the talking. The Seiko section showcased their illustrious history, and a wide range of products, from historical products to novelty wall clocks, to the latest Prospexs and Astrons.

There is also a little retail shop at the first floor which sells selected models at sticker price :o I bought the one item that cannot be found elsewhere...

7 days passed quickly and it was time to return... However a visit to Japan cannot be complete without a watch purchase! After scouring places such as BIC and Yodobashi camera... I found a deal I cannot refuse, and I came home with this :mrgreen:

About half of local AD's sticker price.

Wow.. nice photos. good experience, especially the last photo purchase of the Astron in blue. (Y)

I just returned from Tokyo and visited the museum too! Congrats on the Astron. It was a tad too big for me when i tried it at Yodobashi. Still a beauty though!
