Finally got a MM300
Finally screwed up the courage to buy a MM300, was planning to pick up a used Omega "sword hands" SMP or Glycine Airman; but dunno why at the last moment opted for the Seiko MM300 instead.



No logic at all as I had always been not entirely fond of the MM300 due to the hardlex, loose end links and accuracy variance out of the box for the 8L35 movement which I always felt Seiko could have put more effort into regulating at this price point.



So here is my illogical purchase saying hello.. A 2013 October piece according to its serial number, of course it could also be a 2003 October piece..



So far I am pretty happy with it, the finishing of the case and part of the bracelet is comparable to the Omegas I own. The is deep and beautiful, the bezel is ceramic like, screw down crown is smooth and it has kept time to +5s out of the box, but as I wear it, it is speeding up which I am told is how Seiko adjusts their watches..now after a week it is running +13s per day no matter what position I rest it at night.



My gripes? The bracelet endlink fit to the case isn't as good as other watches I own in this price range - it is a tiny bit loose, which of course irritates me but on a positive note, it's a breeze to swap in and out. The bezel action is a bit mushy, not crisp and tight like on my Seamaster or even my cheaper Oris. Finally, the clasp finishing is a let down, it just isn't up to what I expect from a watch in this price range.







But I do have one question..I find that my case back etchings are very shallow? Is this normal?

First number is the year. Second number is the mth. O = Oct, N= Nov, D= Dec. Might not be true for all model but that seem to be the thumb rule.

I do not have the same issues with bracelet as you mentioned. Feels quite solid to me. Maybe I not used watches of better quality but at about 2.5K I feel it is adequate. Just sharing. Cheers.

Yup the bracelet is okay la, just wished tolerances were tighter. The finishing of the bracelet links are good though. Here's hoping the accuracy will stay good...

Congrats on the watch. Yeah, I have to agree on the regulation guarantee - then again, the impression I get is that the MM300 is really happenstance - if I remember correctly, it was a follow up to the limited edition SBDX-003 and that is why you are not going to see Seiko following up on it with a movement upgrade that will bring it up to Grand Seiko levels in that monocoque case.

Actually hor buy several other less costly Seiko, the total $$ spent can buy a mm300 or other more costly Seiko liao?

+1 on that. Once target locked on just cruise and hold on to wallet till it grows fat enough to buy what you want. Unless what you want is multiple watches or that from the post you are not ready to commit to this yet. Cheers have fun learning and finding out what your heart wants.. cheers.

Sob sob after almost one week of wear and resting crown up at night, my MM300 has gone from +5spd to +8spd...if go over +10spd I will go crazy.

He not evil just saying what you are already leaning towards if your recent postings are anything to go by... :lol:



From thw start you don't seem quite convinced by the MM300 so our friend is just giving you a firm push lah :twisted:



Anyway jokes aside, I usually give my daily wear watches a good 30 second of side to side before I put on in the morning and once more before I put it to rest at night. This will be important imho if you have a mostly sedentary job I.e. most office work or you do not wear it for more than 10 hours a day.



Remember there are loads of sharks patrolling the waters once you decide to release your MM... :lol:

Haha if set by the MM300 specification of -10/+15s, my piece is not off at all..so no discount lor.



On a separate note, I asked thong sia about 7sxx accuracy and according to them timing of -35/+45s per day is normal....So sent my 007 for service and regulation by Mr. Goh liao..

Seiko boutique had it before and I am sure tgey will bring in again but be prepared to pay a really bug premium for it.

I saw the mm300 at Vivo Seiko boutique before one year back, I think it was 3300 to 3600 with 10% off if I remember correctly....I gave the sales rep a WTH look and scurried out of the shop haha.

Tempted to flip liao...

Okay so my love affair with MM300 lasted only a week or so. Flipped it today to a steady bro. Hope you enjoy the watch.

I must apologize to all supporters and fans of the MM300, in the past i was actually a detractor of this watch; but now after owning it for a week, i have to say that i am impressed with it's build quality, dial detailing, hands finishing, gorgeous bezel and great wrist presence. It is a beautiful watch with a design that is Seiko and i truly enjoyed strapping it on every morning.



So i strongly encourage anyone that can't decide - Just hoot first!!** Sure won't regret one



Will i buy one again? Probably not unless i can find a used one that has been regulated to run under +10s per day, then it will be a keeper.
