how much is seiko Shogun now in singapore?

how much is seiko Shogun now in singapore?
i went bencoolen and cannot find it, and i never went to the seiko retail.any kind soul can tell me? thks
Re: how much is seiko Shogun now in singapore?
The shogun is hard to find in stores here. I only ever saw it at a city chain and it was retailing for $2150. Was offered a 20% discount at best, the staff was saying usually for JDM only 10% discount. Better off buying online, even creationwatch is cheaper. I think from Japan online seller would be best.

Big time watch might have
Re: how much is seiko Shogun now in singapore?
Got my shogun from Seiya. Last I heard is that higuchi and chino have run out of stock. Not sure whether it is being discontinued, but it is still in Seiko's 2014 catalogue.
Re: how much is seiko Shogun now in singapore?
First post here but just wondering for JDM watches, does the "international warranty" apply here as in we can bring it to Thong Sia for warranty issues ?

Have had my Kinetic 5J22 for the past 15 years. The current batch of JDM models such as the Shogun and MM series are really tempting but can't seem to get good prices for them locally to date.

Thanks.
Re: how much is seiko Shogun now in singapore?
For JDM watches not purchased from a authorised dealer listed on Thong Sia website, they will not honor the warranty. How international is Seiko warrant AnywAy?

Re: how much is seiko Shogun now in singapore?
Dun think shogun is discontinued. Last I saw was at big time. Price around 1400 can check thier wsb site. They list the prices so no secret.

I think if you go TS shops cheapest you can get is around 1700. If you get from overseas plus gst and shipping I think is around 1100. Your choice.

So far I have not had the need to activate the warranty so it is a non issue to me. Touch wood. But from what I know, if it is international warranty the AD would and should honour. Only what I hear is that they likely put you in queue behind those that bought from them..

Happy hunting.
Re: how much is seiko Shogun now in singapore?
Thanks for the clarification guys. Much appreciated

So, it still must be from an Authorised Distributor/Reseller for Thong Sia to honour the warranty.

Shall take note of that of that in my search.

Reason I'm asking is that prices online seem to differ by quite a bit and locally, they are really hard to find. ( I haven't seen one yet after scouring like 5~6 shops! )

But if its anything like my trusty Kinetic of 15yrs vintage, then its most probably a non-issue. Its a never had a major hiccup since I've owned it. Still keeps to within like 10~12s a month. :D

I think it may be bit different as the shogun is a mechanical watch. So it would need servicing at some point of time to keep it running smoothly. But having said that, I have yet to do a full service to the majority of my pieces.

JDM pieces are not likely to be found at most local shops.
Re: how much is seiko Shogun now in singapore?
I'm not too concerned with servicing really. There are quite a few highly recommended servicing shops/ craftsmen from various local forums.

Its more of things such as components failing such as gears breaking and jamming the mechanism or even jammed springs, though they are extremely remote given that even the entry level Seiko 5's are already extremely reliable. Or the odd dial artifacts dropping out. Not a very likely scenario, but still worth some consideration.

Might ask a friend who flies to Tokyo frequently for some help instead if the price is right! :)

As not servicing your watches, its ok, I do have a old, old Tudor that has not seen service for like 10 years! Though I wear it maybe 1 week out of a year... :P
Re: how much is seiko Shogun now in singapore?
Good for you to have a friend travelling to Jaoan often. A friend of mine got one outside Tokyo (cannot remember name of city) for slightly less than 1k sgd. He also bought a Sumo for around 450.

As for components failing or jamming it is very rare thats why I said warranty is a non issue for me. But I have heard of horror stories for the odd piece of lemon.. :D

Good luck. Remember to treat your friend well for his courier services hahaha.

Happy hunting.
Re: how much is seiko Shogun now in singapore?
Thanks for the encouragement.

But I'll try not to bother this particular friend, though he's very much into watches too. He's a busy man, and most importantly, think the payback for his services will probably cost more than the savings ! :P

There are a few others who fly to Japan a lot less frequently and who owe me a few small favours I might kachiao instead. :)

Found some good/ reasonable prices online already but shall explore further as I'm in no great rush to buy it. ;)
Re: how much is seiko Shogun now in singapore?

Hehe yeah I got a shock when I saw it too, at first I thought it was MM300...then nope it's the shogun. Wonder how many years warranty it comes with?
Re: how much is seiko Shogun now in singapore?
Haha .. indeed!

You can get really close to a MM300 already for that price online !

I instantly recognised the watch, but I had to do a double and triple take at the price tag when I looked more closely !
Re: how much is seiko Shogun now in singapore?
Price you saw is before discount and usually u can get around 1700 to 1800 after discount. Well we told you local pricing is an eye opener hahah. But buy what you can afford and according to your risk appetite.

The hunt goes on...

I was offered a 10% discount at city chain, then because it was GSS, gave me additional 5 or 10%, i can't remember, so ya around 1700 - 1800 which is at least 400 - 500 more than if we buy from online japanese sellers. BUT if city chain sets which i suppose are Thong Sia sets come with 2 years warranty, it's worth considering.

But i think best to whack used? But i have yet to see any being sold below 1000 whether in local or overseas forums, and shoguns are more rare used than MM300. Sigh so tempted to get a Shogun even though i just got a MM300....
Re: how much is seiko Shogun now in singapore?
Just 400 to 500 more than online sellers? Then u guys should really check out Big Time which list it for about 1400.at least if you can handle the watch before buying as well. Not sure they have stock but was told they do come in now and then.

Btw I have both the MM300 and the Shogun. I feel each fills a niche and do not overlap so it is good to have both, affordability permitting of course as I do not advocate buyjng for the sake of buying.Enjoy the hunt.

BigTime lists it at $1450 ( nor sure include GST or not) . Skywatches lists it at US$999 before GST but there have been some complaints of its warranty cards of being none-acceptable for the US distributors as the serials were apparently scratched off. That's over at the WatchUseek forums.

Seiya Japan is quite close in terms of price at just over US$1k and have a stellar reputation everywhere though. And then there are other unquantified ones out there.

But yes agree... the "hunt"is actually as much fun as the actual purchase. :)
Re: how much is seiko Shogun now in singapore?
Now u r getting it. The hunt is half the fun at least. I think Big Time list imcludes GST. Can call to ask. Btw I am not affiliated to Big Time but just feels that its great to have a listing to compare prices.

So if Seiya is around Usd1k it is sgd 1.25k. If you include Gst (unless u somehow escape) the price will be 1337 plus shipping.. not much difff already. With the other thread on lost or poor mail service, I think the risk is just not worth taking for less than 100 buck. Just my 2 cents.
