Watch Recommendation
Buying a gift for an uncle in his early 50s, he likes a sporty model that can be worn with any attire. Budget is no more than 2k nett. Only other requirement is must have a service centre in China and must not be Japanese.



Any good recommendations?

Mechanical?

I think avoid those china popular ones like LONGINES or TISSOT. Too popular, and too much fakes in the market. Couldn't imagine when your uncle kenna approached by his peer in China asking him, "真品还是寨货呀？" It'll get very frustrating then...

Perhaps something not so common, yet with good, auspicious name? Such as 乐都 for RADO, 美都 for MIDO?



入水能游，出水能跳，sporty yet good looking to pair with numbers of different apparels ...



such as the HYPERCHROME...





or the ALL DIAL?

Not only LONGINES and TISSOT, TITONI also kanna... that's why tiongs flock to SG and MY to go for the real stuff, SG more... that's why causes the price to jack up lor...



Anyway... For RADO, so far the biggest range i have seen is @ Mustafa. Of course, that dummy sense have to thanks to their larger than others showcase lah, such that all the watches can have a good distance apart... There's this shop, in the building opposite Chinatown point, err... cannot remember the name liaoz, located @ first floor, diagonally opposite the snacks stalls @ lvl1, run by a family, sells lots of RADO. Go there, maybe can bargain for better price?



As for MIDO, so far i see that ALL WATCHES carries a better and wider range than others... go to Chinatown point, from the main entrance, cut through the cafe at the main hall, go up the little steps, the ALL WATCHES boutique is just infront of you. Price can bargain, but dunno how much...

Haha I wish it's 2k...it's BNIB with 4 years warranty....ultimately got this as I found out that my uncle had always wanted an omega and since he doesn't flip his watches I didn't mind spending more lor..I love the panda dial myself...

Haha OT is off topic. Anyway while watch hunting over the weekend. 2k plus and must have great brand recognition, look presentable and sporty is really almost mission impossible. It was uber frustrating....
