I have a SKX009 beadblasted with yobokies now.. i think it's around 80 USD for bracelet and case.. only bad thing is that it takes a really long time to finish.. i've been waiting 3 weeks now, although i think the normal is 2 weeks.

I got a supplier do beadblastbfor metal parts. I asked before around $40. Anybody wana be guinea pig? I can sic contact.

they can do with one watch? thought normally they do only in bulk

Yeap can. I send my parts in usually also do one piece.

Will they strip the watch down to the case before blasting? That's what i'm worried about. Otherwise, it does sound rather promising..

i suspect u have to strap everything out. then send the case and bracelet for blasting

Yea I suppose so too.. Wonder what yobokies standard is like.. Still waiting! One pair of stupid end caps caused me 2 weeks of delay.. Grrr!

Strip the parts loh but removing crystal can be challenging.

i would be worried about the crown and stem... stem abit hard to remove from the crown - normally glued in too.

if a guy has never blasted watches before, how would they know how to beadblast the crown?

Yea, that's a concern too. I had a chat with Harold (Yobokies) about the blasting process and he did mention that certain areas such as the case back threads are protected from the blasting to prevent it from getting damaged. If the bead blaster is not careful, the watch might end up losing its water tightness..

i see... which means its safer and better to be actually bring it to a watchmaker at the end of the day

I wonder what's the process like... do they throw the entire watch to blast ? Or parts by parts..



if it's really parts by parts, if you remove the crystal, there's a lot of gaps on the case you need to cover up before blasting...

later i call my supplier to check. I am guessing the crystal needs to be removed. Caseback screw thread shouldnt be a problem becoz caseback will be blasted as well. From the front, i duno liao.

Yah loh. Interesting la, even thou we can find a blaster, doesn't mean they know how to do haha... they just wholesale blast..



Imagine putting your watch inside.
