Re: Orient Star Classic
Hi to all , just join this forum a new user , I recently just got myself a orient star seeker Dj 0001b , as I'm browsing through the page I come across this thread , hope that TS wouldn't mind using his thread to post some questions

I would like to know where is the best place to hunt leather straps in Singapore ? I'm searching high and low for those 20mm black leather straps with red stitching to be fit in my star seeker , any one knows where is the good place to look for these straps ?

I been looking online over at Hirsch , but I prefer to search in local for these similar straps first , if really can't find what I like , then no choice have to order online .

So if anyone knows where is the good place for leather straps , please share , most appreciated thanks
Re: Orient Star Classic
Hirsch? Red Army Watches at ion, millennia walk and wisma. They carry decent range of Hirsch and 20mm is common size, pay a premium though. For paros brand can try K2, watch shop in bras basah as well as bencoolen.

Hello thanks ! I will give it a try at bencoolen this evening , it's a really nice gmt watch to have , but I don't really like the bands , I will see what I can find in bencoolen first , hopefully can find a really suitable one for it .

When I first bought with the dealer I did ask him to double check 20mm or 22mm if change to leather straps , he told me 20mm ? Now I'm using measurement lug to lug 20mm
Re: Orient Star Classic
precisely I think probably you're right , very hard to get measuresment cos I got no steady hand , 20mm 21mm or in between haha,

But I got a picture to show taking from the net , this guy with a star seeker using Hirsch leather , I check the webstore on Hirsch about this very same leather , size is available 20mm 22mm ,

So if I'm ordering from the net , which size should I choose ? 20mm or 22 mm ?

Re: Orient Star Classic
Shop told me can squeeze 22mm. U can ask the shop assistant, if he or she say can, make them mount it for u on the spot.

Last evening after work I did go down to bencoolen look see look see , but as I reach there already8+ most of the store has already close shop , only 3 -4 open only including Wins ,

Wait for my off day Tuesday then go swiss army and K2 katong to see of I can find 21mm leathers .

Appreciate many thanks sir !
Re: Orient Star Classic
i used to own several 21mm lug watches. including the bambino and my Ball. most 22mm leather, nato or fabric strap fits pretty well. I din't really bought any 21mm straps , because it is hard to find.

I even fitted a 22mm silicon strap into my Seiko spork.

So you can safely use a 22mm leather strap on a 21mm lug
Re: Orient Star Classic
Got it understood ! Really can't wait to change it to a leathers , I like every details that the star brings , but don't really fond of the stainless steel bands that comes with .

Whatever they have you should find at k2 as well and k2 price usually more friendly :). I usually get mine from strapcode, k2, j&s (expensive), gunny (expensive), hirsch (online) or gnomon.some private sellers in sg-roc also got nice straps.

Re: Orient Star Classic
I recommended going to bras basah, one of the shops there got huge selection of leather strap from paros. I managed to find 19mm strap there. So they might have 21mm.

Or as another bro suggest, buy hirsch online I think got sell odd size like 21mm one.

Red Army confirmed no 21mm, they bring in only the even sizes ditto for Gnomon. Strapcode not sure but their price is on high side and QC is a bit iffy.

Can try panatime.com or crown&&buckle
Re: Orient Star Classic
I tot K2 has 19 and 21mm Paros leather straps, just limited in colours. I got a 21mm Paro brown strap for my bambino from K2.

If any bros or sis here don't mind troublesome , can share those shop name with address or telephone numbers which can call in to check it out first ? There's a few online store selling odd numbers straps but I want to try looking at local first if really can't find what I want , then no choice has to order online , the below one is what I have found using Google , whatever odd numbers also got ,

it's one of the best store I could find online.

Worse come to worse if can't find what I want at local, I will order it online.

Re: Orient Star Classic
Sorry in case if I have not mention , my colour choice of the strap I'm searching is quite standard , black with red stitching or white stitching . As thick as possible , with deployment clasp lagi best .
Orient Star Classic
Gnomon does sell some 21mm straps. Not many options but your nearest store in Singapore.

what's your budget for the strap? If really can't find, j&s can custom make to your exact specs at $200 for calf.
Re: Orient Star Classic
Thanks to all , manage to find a cheap monaco style black leather straps with red stitching and another one with white stitching at a watch shop at novena square velocity , but at 22mm , the guy must cut off a bit off in order to match the lug .

Tonight or tomorrow will try to take some pictures of it and share .

Thank you all for all the information . Thanks man !
Re: Orient Star Classic
To share some of my amateur shots together with my newly fitted cheap Chinese made leather straps to my Orient star 00001B , this is the only sort of colour pattern leather which I can find locally ,

until I can find something similar which is made more high quality compare to this cheap Chinese made leather ,

If any bros or sis do come across such colour pattern leather straps like mine in locally , please do let me know . For now I can only settle for this cheap Chinese made leather.

For a start , I'm not a watch collector , I choose , acquire and buy what I can afford , in hundreds not thousands and in turn wear them in a orderly manner.

Novena square 2 , From the entrance walk all the way back to the end and turn left near the exit , the shop is a small watch shop just at the left end corner , I was just wandering around there after work then happen to come across this shop , but the price on the straps is on a bit high from $20,25 onwards but they have a rent to pay so if it's not too ridiculous I can accept , but I would think most but not all are genuine leather , at least mine look like Chinese made .
