New to Seiko

New to Seiko
Hello Guys.

I am relatively new to Seiko Watches. And i am intending to get Seiko Divers watches.

Can i know where is the best place to get Seiko diver watches in Singapore?

And i have look around the forum. Does the Tuna protect the Seiko watches well? and how much does it cost?

Lastly, does all Seiko Divers Glow in the dark? Cause i saw some of the divers watches glow in the dark. Or is it just any particular models?

Thanks :)
Re: New to Seiko
U can check out the threads in Articles seiko pedia for places to buy. Best place is where u r comfortable with.. not all are 'best' to everyone..

As for Tunas, the shroud does offer some protection but you would not want to try it out would you? You can always check the net. Real Tunas would exceed 1k for quartz. For mechanical, it would exceed 3k. Of course you can buy 2nd hand if you want. Though some may be even more ex due to rarity and collectability.

I would say at least for Seiko all divers have lume (I stand corrected by the gurus here if there are non lume seiko divers). These needs to be 'Charged' to glow. Other brands like Ball have glow tubes that would glow in the dark for a couple of decades and need not be 'charged' under light or sun.

Hope the above helps and enjoy your journey. Cheers.

Hi, thanks for the reply!

By 'charged' to glow. You mean putting under the sun or ?? :X
Re: New to Seiko
you can charge by exposure to the sun or UV light.

Re: New to Seiko
probably you could narrow down your choices then we could probably better direct you to the recommended shops to buy

"ShockZone"

There was a watch shop at peoples park that had many well priced Seiko watches, I forgot its name.

Skywatches aka watch fashion

Hi guys, thanks for all the replies! :) Much appreciated.

Can i know roughly the price of a shroud for a diver watch? :O

Thanks
Re: New to Seiko
Shroud? Only certain models are fitted with shrouds...tuna, sardine, frakenmonster, sawtooth, monster, some of these are partial shrouds...experts here can tell u more. There are 3rd party shrouds from online for tuna and sardine. But doubt they can fit on other watches?

Re: New to Seiko
maybe you can look at the baby tuna range for automatic diver with shroud reasonably priced
Re: New to Seiko
I have the frankenmonster/darth monster.

Its big, huge and heavy. My puny wrists got tired of it. But it is a really nice monster. Great presence.
