It's a Swatch Sistem 51 Blue, a brand new 100% swiss made, in house movement with 51 parts and one screw only. 17 pending patents for the machine only manufacturing process. Supposedly the movement is made of ARCAP- so highly anti-magnetic and then laser regulated and sealed into the case, so no regulation is needed or possible and claims to be maintenance free for it's service life time. Swatch claims an accuracy of 5 seconds per day out of the box and a power reserve of 90 hours.



Not available locally yet, was told only land in Singapore in April/May later this year due to delays in their worldwide launch, heard they will launch in USA and China first then the rest of the world.



It is currently only sold in swatch shops in swiss for 150 CHF i think?



My thoughts on it so far? Fun and funky design, very light and comfy on the wrist, it is plastic with silicon strap afterall. For someone of my generation, brings back memories of my first Swatches when i was in JC and serving NS after that. I used to have like 20 over swatch watches.



The dial is busy but quite legible even for a guy with uncle eye sight like me, the lume on the hands and hour "dots" are surprisingly legible for many hours after lights out, date does not change instantly at 12am but changes over a while after 12am (feel asleep before i could note how long it took); it hand winds very smoothly but does not have hacking seconds hand feature. The ticking is loud and seconds hand sweep is comparable in "smoothness" to my low beat seikos and orients. The auto winding rotor mechanism is noisy made worse by the plastic casing which does nothing to muffle any rotor or ticking noise.



Accuracy wise, so far over the past 15 hours it's about +/- 0 versus time.is, will have to observe for many days more to get a better idea of it's actual time keeping. Power reserve no idea yet...



No major complaints yet, if it delivers on the accuracy claims of 5 seconds a day then i will be damm impressed, my experience with no cosc certified mechanical movements from much more expensive watches have been all over the place.

Nice first throw away mechanical watch. Some discussion on this in the 80 hour ETA movement thread for those interested.
