SBGA011 - Snowflake

SBGA011 - Snowflake
Hi guys, I'm hooked on this grand seiko for months and am thinking of finally getting one.

Is there any place here that I can see the actual watch and check out the price?

Or is Seiya Japan still the place to get the grand seikos?
Re: SBGA011 - Snowflake
you can check it out at Seiko Showroom at Vivocity or JEMS.

I haven't been to the JEMS showroom but have been to the Vivocity showroom a few times.

Nice, sweet and polite sales staff.

Vivo dun have the snowflake. Not sure about jems but I am pretty sure don't have also. And they have no idea when the stock will come in, probably not coming in.

Re: SBGA011 - Snowflake
Hi thanks. I guess i'll pay them a visit.

I've handled another Titanium watch before and it sure feels "light" aka cheap.

That has been my main concern and the reason I'm withholding the purchase so far.

I'm also looking at the omega seamaster aqua terra which is about 1k+ lesser than the snowflake. So many targets so little $$$$

So is the best way to just close my eyes and click on the order button from seiyajapan

I really want to see the dial for myself to see whether it's worth paying an extra compared to the other GS models

Extra meh? How much if order from seiya? I am a little concerned about the titanium as well. But based on pictures, I would like the dial. Considering snowflake or gs gmt..

Re: SBGA011 - Snowflake
About 1k difference compared to even the SBGA003

Titanium case and bracelet feels really light, not sure whether it's good or bad they chose to use titanium for the snowflake.

Im considering the LE SBGR083 as well but it's so difficult to track who has it let alone buy since its limited to 300 or 700 I forgot which.

SBGR083 limited to 700 pcs. I think Vivo Seiko has 1 but very ex. However this is different from snowflake as it is black dial and mechanical vs white flake dial and SD. So very different and imho not comparable. For me the LE 083 black dial is more desirable, especially the golden second hands and the smaller production. I am not a fan of non mechanicals, especially at that price range.

Happy hunting.
Re: SBGA011 - Snowflake
Yes I still lack a decent black dial dress watch that's why I'm aiming at the 083 as well.

I prefer the snowflake though, the dial and the blue hands is really enticing.

The only issue is that it's better to get LEs early on so that's my main consideration before making a choice.

Movement wise, I have nothing against spring drives :) they should be considered a hybrid between mechanical and quartz. I'll probably go for the snowflake first, then sometime next year for the 083.

Re: SBGA011 - Snowflake
Guys, I managed to get one piece from e main seiko showroom in Indonesia.

Very excited because I manged to secure it just today, on reunion dinner day, playing with e watch now.

I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

I actually pondered between the SBGR083 and SBGA011 but even though the former is LE, the snowflake is so much harder to track and find. Thong SIA has the 083 but not the 011. So when I got e chance to get it from e Indonesia seiko showroom I didn't hesitate one bit.
Re: SBGA011 - Snowflake
Congrats great hoot for the New Year! Wear it in good health.

PS,

Just my humble opinion but though the snowflake may be difficult to track now, it is not LE. Seiko will still manufacture the watch in future. I believe they make in batches so when the next batch is out, there will be some available. But a LE watch like the 083 will not be made again, so... but then again, as you seem more inclined towards the snowflake, the choice is clear, both are fantastic buys..

I'm sure most popular GS are hard to track, but as u said I'm more inclined to the snowflake :P

And I only have $$ for one in e meantime, so probably I have to save another 2 yr to get the 083 or any other watch that catches my eyes

Wrist shot as promised. More detailed shots to follow after doing my rounds of house visiting :D

Re: SBGA011 - Snowflake
Aiya most pple can only buy one at a time. U can buy one that lights up ur eyes and heart is lucky enough already!

Nice dial, just that I cannot get past it being a spring drive... As Big E said, the technology is just about 10 yrs old.. wait till it gets more mature like in 50 yrs then buy... IF I still can move my wrist that is..
Re: SBGA011 - Snowflake
After wearing it for 1 day, I've a few observations.

1) e finishing on e hours, minutes, seconds, hour markers is exceptional. It's like katana blades fitted on the watches. E way it glistens when light hits it is breathtaking.

2) e finishing of the side of the lugs facing up is matte. I thought mine was fake and googled more pictures. Weird choice considering all e other sides are polished.

3) choice of titanium. Firstly I thought it was weird because with all due respect to titanium being more lightweight and hardy than SS, it is very light, making e watch feels cheapo-ish. BUT after wearing it I'm glad it's titanium because it wears very nicely.

I could imagine it being SS and it would be much nheavier on e wrists and making it uncomfortable since all my other watches are leather straps.

Congrats bro.

Being a recent GS owner myself, I must say the quality, beauty and workmanship of GS is really hard to capture in photograph.

You don't know the quality until u handle it in the flesh.

Most of the time, in photos it looks just like any other Seiko.

Truly... handling 1 VS looking at one behind the glass display also makes hell of a difference.

Wrist shot for today

Square GS Buckle

Sorry for the shaky shots, I took e pictures with my iPad since I have only blackberry and a clamshell Samsung

It is currently running +1 sec since I set it (as best as I could) to atomic time (time.is) on 30th Jan. I sure hope e accuracy of time keeping is as good as their marketing
