mod project #2 (30/7/09)

mod project #2 (30/7/09)
this was mod project #2, completed in 30/7/09.

This took 3 months of sourcing and deciding on the look, before i finally finished putting together this 2nd mod project!

The main thing that started off the project was I wanted a 12-hr bezel so i can have a 2nd timezone on one of my watches.

this was a really dead SKX031 from the bay (again).

7s26a movement was really dead, and i decided to just source for a new one

crystal replaced with original hardlex by Goh.

time for some good ol' elbow grease to get the case polished up!

after a going through 400 & 600 grit and some autosol i was very happy with this outcome

(later on i decided to do some brushed finish on some surface to add some contrast)

Now for the new parts - can you guess where i got them?

new 7s26b movement with black day/date

On goes the dial

the hour hand (noticed the tip is a little smashed... it happened when i tried to get it to be squared by using a precision cutter - not very precise!)

the minute hand

and the tough one - the second hand!

(it took me four attempts before i got it on)

into the case - oops!

chapter ring overlapping some numbers. grr!

after trying some ideas with modding the chapter ring, i ended up ripping it out and decided to do without it.

On goes the bezel insert and ta-dah!

Wah big-e-294, your skill in modding and restoration work really looks like the disciple of Mr Goh from K2. Very solid work!
