Can anyone please tell me if this Seiko is real.

Can anyone please tell me if this Seiko is real.
I have just purchased a Seiko from ebay but am doubting if it is real. I have been told that it should have "Made in Japan" in the bottom of the dial yet it only has the movement number.

The reason I ask is that there are two other auctions on ebay for the same watch and they both have "Made in Japan" on the dial.



I have read that all Seiko watches should have wording similar to above or just the word "Japan"



Also if you search this forum for "SSA051" it will show a topic "All black watches" on page one of the topic it has a picture with the watch that says "made in Japan" on page two a BM has posted pictures of his watch and it looks the same as the watch I have purchased.



Very confused. I do have a Seiko 5 that I purchased many years ago but it does not have anything mentioning Japan on the watch. I bought it from a dealer in the UK before I moved abroad.

Humm, if you are doubtful of the authenticity of the watch,

Don't mind me saying, you could have avoided nights of tossing and turning

by getting from an authorised dealer thou. Well maybe that's me.

But since the elite members here have spoken, I think you should lay your doubts to rest,

as it's legit. Cheers

After you will get the watch, you are Welcome to take it to Seiko Company for watch Authenticity confirmation....."

Only j models have "made in japan" wording. K models do not have.

After you will get the watch, you are Welcome to take it to Seiko Company for watch Authenticity confirmation....."


Your watch is legit.



From what i understand, for import requirements of certain countries, some needs to have "made in japan" or "Japan" on the products that are "Japanese".

That is why there are K and J models.

K models are assembled outside of Japan, J models are assembled in Japan for export to areas like the Middle East (that is also why the J variants of the 7s movt has arabic/english day wheels).

Do note that for these international models from Seiko, they are ALL assembled by robots... (i can only assume ALL the robots are made in japan).



Generally K and J versions are identical, but some models have very minor differences. Quality are comparable.



End of the day, its always best to buy from a reliable source.

As consumers, we have to do our due diligence and do our homework -find out about the seller or company if you are unsure.

This model is difficult to find so I was happy to get it for $200, it was only after that I realized the differences in the model number and the lack of "made in japan" on the dial. The seller is a reputable seller with a feedback of over 14000 at 99.6%.



I just wanted to make sure.
