Spring Drive = Grand Seiko ?

Spring Drive = Grand Seiko ?
Is Spring Drive movement only available under the Grand Seiko label / movement ? Can I buy a standard spring drive movement that is not related to a Grand Seiko movement ? Can I buy a NEW Seiko Spring drive movement for below SG$1,500 ?

Just like I can buy a good Seiko automatic movement 6R21 for below S1,500 instead of a Grand Seiko 9S65 movement that would cost S$4,500.

Yes, u can get spring drive in non-Grand Seiko, but it's still much more than $1500.



You'll also find spring drive in some Seiko Ananta models (one class below GS, but still above $5k), and in the Credor line, which is even more expensive than GS!

Just want to add that some high end Seiko divers like SBDB001 also use spring drive, but still >$3k...

The Spring Drive movements are available outside the GS line but I don't think there is any new or even preowned at $1500.

Spring drive does not equal GS i think, there are watches not in GS line with SD movement, for example the MM600 is not part of the GS range.

I think the minimum $$ for entry into the SD club is 4-5k? Haven't seen any used SD on sale locally...
