Anyone know of any watch repair shop other than TS & K2?
Date function on my Sammi spoilt...

Went to K2 but Mr Goh's business so good, he doesn't have time to look into my watch

TS known to charge damn high for a repair

Anyone knows any reputable watch repair shop that can fix the date function of seiko watches?

TS service charge for a 7S is almost the same as K2. S$80 before GST vs no GST and quicker. TS takes a longer time. Personally, its more of a time issue with TS. Don;t believe that the movement or date wheel is that expensive for a 7S movement.

You mean quick set date not working? I think this requires to change the whole movement. I think not cheap and mr goh probably don,t have the parts that,s why can,t do. You probably have to go back ts for this i think. Unless yoy can find a working movement buy online bring to mr goh change.

There is a plastic gear for the quick change. Guess its probably sear off or wear out.

For parts, either TS or new movt.



New movt probably cost $80 , not sure TS charge for the parts.

Mr Goh didn't specifically say need to buy parts for him to repair. He's really busy he said.

I'll try Goh Seo Choon at Smith Street, otherwise it's TS. not convenient as TS opens only on weekdays, and the location is darn far from my workplace....


bewarned...mr goh might not be the friendliest guy around...dun expect him to be polite if u try to sass him...but as time goes, he is a fren and a man of few words..



K2 Mr Goh does bring some watches to Old Mr Goh if he gets overwhelmed.



Maybe they are brothers, can anyone confirm?

Yes,



Both are real brothers by blood.



Skills are acquired from father Goh.



Dun expect any customer chat from snr Goh.



He's those u put n go and pick up another day type of watchmaker. Quite unlike Sm Goh.

My friend likes to go the elder brother Goh's shop.. but recommended me to go K2 as his opening hours and location more convenient for me. also warned me that Smith street there not exactly very friendly, but workmanship better.

I'm a sucker for good, friendly & humorous service.



So folks, you guessed it: K2 Goh prevailed.



But to answer your question, the other place that I go to is Bronze Age at Hong Lim. Family of five running the business & they repair ANYTHING. I mean, ANYTHING.



If it's unrepairable, they'd be honest to tell you don't even try.



I quite like them. :)

Not that they don't give a damn about those Russians, but they are real cheap in general & parts are course/rough in most entry level Russian watches.



Correct me if I'm wrong, but Russian watch producers generally has a "buy-use-spoil-dispose-buy new one to replace" mentality for their goods.



It's simply not worth it to spend too much time and effort as a watch maker and parts are not readily available too.



Was real lucky to get my Vostok Metro repaired by Red Army, but if that baby gives way again...sigh..

I believe RAW is able to service those current Russians models



The challenge are the vintage models frm CCCP era :lol:

Exactly. It's not about their competency but their attitude towards Russian and vintage in general.



I have a few very nice chronographs with delicate movements, been sourcing for a watchmaker to repair them.



Most options are overseas. So I decided to leave it as is. A historical collection rather than a functional piece.

I like how objective your comments are. It's the attitude indeed.



But in the economic sense, there simply aren't enough demand to support watch makers in Singapore to dedicate their effort & time into Russian pieces.

Not any locally that I know of. Besides the know how, its not easy for them to get hold of 8500 parts iirc.

oh so that's the reason.. so can only go omega for servicing/repair? that's a bummer, was still considering if i should aim to get 1 for myself..

not too sure if constellation is considered a new model though.

3133 movement, there is a watchmaker in jakarta, but not sure how cost-effective it is compared to servicing at red army
