am not exactly good at watches...so im wondering whats the different between seiko kinectic, spring drive and automatic swiss made watches?!?

Umm can google for the details? But a simple way to look at it will be SD and kinetic are proprietary seiko in house movements that are part mechanical and part quartz...while automatics are 100% mechanicals powered by your arm movements?

An automatic watch doesn't have to be Swiss. Automatic movement just means a mechanical watch with a rotor inside the watch that winds it when you wear them, batteries not included nor required.

For seiko kinetics, these are quartz movements powered by a rechargeable battery that charged by the winding of the rotor. It would be like a automatic watch but instead of winding the spring, the battery gets charged.



Spring drives are mechanical watches but has its beat rate controlled/regulated by a electronic circuit which uses a quartz signal as a reference. I think wikipedia has an article on the spring drive which better summarises this.



Like what Solanum has mentioned, an automatic does not need to be Swiss. Watches with the swiss made mark are watches that fulfill certain criteria such as having 50% of the production costs originating from Switzerland. Some say its a mark of quality while others deem it as marketing.

And just to confuse the matter the Sriko Kinetic Direct Drive is just a kinetic movt w handwinding and a PR indicator subdial :lol:
