SpringBars

SpringBars
Lately been doing strap changes on Omega, Seiko, Sinn, Citizen, Hamilton etc and notice that springbar size and quality really differs from brand to brand, with Seiko so far being the most sturdy and "fat". After nearly losing the springbar on a few of my watches after they "flew" off my table; wondering where i can buy generic good quality springbars in the 18, 20 and 22mm variety that will fit my watches, mostly divers. Wise to keep a few as spare?

I get mine fm dagaz but usually 22mm. Spring bars come in few thickness. 1.8mm, 2mm, 2.2mm, 2.5mm. Not all straps will fit 2.5mm so you need to be careful. And 2.5mm fat springs bars got 2 tip sizes, 1 for normal size lugs holes, another for big seiko diver lug holes.

You should be able to find sellers on ebay as well. And iirc gnomon has 2.5mm springs bars for normal sized lug holes.

Re: SpringBars
The end sizes are 0.8mm and 1.1mm iirc.

1.1mm is typically the 200m Seiko divers that uses the fatty springbar

Re: SpringBars
Hmm so complicated.. Actually I think I will buy 22mm and 20mm spring bar for seiko diver and sinn U. I guess the normal thickness and end size will do? Some of my existing straps cannot take a fat seiko springbar.
Re: SpringBars
I bought a couple from JW last time but do note generic springbars might not provide as snug a fit for some bracelets as factory ones. Sinn U1 uses a shoulderless springbar as well.

oh i didn't notice that, so i have no choice but to use the original springbars for my SINN? as the 22mm leather strap i have mounted it on now was fitted to my Tuna with its fat sprinbars, so the hole is rather large and the SINN springbars are loose in it and that bothers me, guess i might have to get another 22mm brown strap for the SINN as well then..

Don't have to, you can use normal spring bars for 3rd party straps, it shouldnt be a problem.

Might not be a good fit with the factory strap or bracelet though.
Re: SpringBars
this one is reminder to all guys especially if u gonna change the strap for a long time. if it originally uses the "fat" spring bars, do not change it to normal ones. you are only destroying the lug holes.

say lug hole one more time.

use either the seiko originals fatties or good alternative can be had from online.

its the rolex springbars with the lugs extending all the way tat is the best..

Yes, wrong size pin will destroy the lug hole. Careful.

Re: SpringBars
Anyone looking for correct springbar (2mm body, double flange) for leather strap in 22mm length can PM me.

*most Seiko with 20mm lug, usually comes with drilled thru lug.
