Watch with 8 lug holes?

Watch with 8 lug holes?
I was swapping out the very thin and fragile original omega strap from my de Ville and realized that it had 2 lug holes on each lug, one high and one lower down, the original strap was mounted on the lower set of holes...



Anyone ever encounter this? Why the need for 2 sets on each lug?

Hmm I think you are both right, watch wears differently with the strap mounted on different set of lug holes.
