Snow Flake or Hibeat 36000

Snow Flake or Hibeat 36000
Hi,

I am currently looking at these two watches. In fact, I am torn between these two watches.

Would like to seek advice from the Lao Jiao here?

SGBA011 Snow flake or SBGH001 Hibeat36000?

Regards,

Kirk

HiBeat movements may be good in a certain way, however, maintenance costs is also high.

Look at various posts on high beat movements from different forums, you see lots of negative reports.

So Spring drive has no issue?
Re: Snow Flake or Hibeat 36000
it depends on if you can accept the fact of SD movement or fully mechanism watch is preferable

for the look, i'd go for snow flake, for movement, high beat :)
Re: Snow Flake or Hibeat 36000
Snowflake. A Hibeat movement can be found in a variety of makers, Spring Drive is unique to Seiko.
Re: Snow Flake or Hibeat 36000
Seiko hi beat movement is the ultimate in GS range and some say even rivalling the best of other makes.

The high tech parts used in the hi beat makes the servicing schedule not more than the normal movements as it reduces the wear and tear normally associated with hi beat movements.

I have handled both and feel that as a purely mechanical movement the seiko gs hi beat is the one to get. The snowflake does have its merits but if you can only get 1 gs, then in my very humble opinion, it has to be the hi beat.

Good hunting
Re: Snow Flake or Hibeat 36000
Buy both! Not the same!

A hi beat is for pure mechanical lovers

A SD is uniquely Seiko and frowned upon by the above group. However, the snowflake has got a slight edge IMHO. The dial captivates.

I personally prefer the snowflake slightly over the hi beat. Neither is a wrong choice.

If you have any $$$ remaining after both. Get SBGR083 as well.

There u go, standard Seiko Club reply.

When in doubt of which to buy between 2 watches, buy both. Better still, add a third in the mix and buy all 3!! :D

Poisonous bunch to ask for purchase advice.

If I were to buy another GS, the limited edition SBGR081 would be on the list. Love the gold second hand.

Happy hunting and remember buy everything!
Re: Snow Flake or Hibeat 36000
Both pieces obrings the best that Seiko has to offer.

My preference would be the high beat.

Re: Snow Flake or Hibeat 36000
Buy first sell later.
Re: Snow Flake or Hibeat 36000
Buy snowflake first, if not happy sell and buy the hi beat one or vice versa.

MTL!!!!!
Re: Snow Flake or Hibeat 36000
If you are a movement lover... then go for the hi-beat.

if you are more of an esthetics-kinda-guy... get the snowflake dial.

don't think too hard about the servicing and what-not... servicing of hi-beat or SD will be costly anyway.

If you can afford the watch, I'm sure you can afford the servicing.

And servicing intervals are usually a recommendation - a few factors are involved (how often you wear it, how you store it, the temperature, etc...).

So don't worry about it.
Re: Snow Flake or Hibeat 36000
Go for snow flake SBGA011!!

I would get one myself if i could 8-)
Re: Snow Flake or Hibeat 36000
The problem is both cost exactly the same....

3K cheaper than my Rolex Submariner.

When I compared them with Rolex....Rolex pales....
Re: Snow Flake or Hibeat 36000
I think it is also difficult to find Snow Flake and Hi Beat 36k on the resale market. If you decide to sell later on to Seiko collectors, less pressure on selling price. Hopefully...
Re: Snow Flake or Hibeat 36000
Think abt resale = dont buy

Think abt face value = dont buy

Think abt reasons to buy = dont buy

Buy when u wanna buy and follow your heart.

I would make a clear decision before buying. If you buy and decide to flip for the other, the resale for GS isnt very strong or liquid.
