Hi guys, not much of an audiophile, but I do appreciate uninterrupted audio enjoyment and quality listening when it comes to music.

A space for indulging the mind so to speak. Just a show of hands, what headphones you guys are using. ;)

I had 2 Sennheiser CX300 previously, gave up when the wire keep breaking internally causing 1 side sound only.



Currently using Creative EP-660 - cheap and good to me although i prefer CX300.



Tested the Bose Q3 (i think) recently, those big headphones and noise blocking type, wah really not bad, not cheap though.

Using a pair of Shure SE215







Damn solid, the most expensive earphones I ever bought but the best as well. I'm not so much into clarify but I get to enjoy my music/movies on MRT without any form of external noise. :lol:

i prefer IEM for small to carry around, my current would be westone



headphone prefer to use at home pair with good amp, if i'm crazy enough i'd go for beyerdynamic t90 for the best natural sounds and overall performance

Using OE2 Headphones by Bose.







Solid Bass and real comfy, only problem is that my ears tend to get hot after some time. :x

I use a Grado Labs iGrado for portability and use a Grado Labs SR80 at home :smile:



Excellent quality by far and been holding up to my expectations for the past 6 yrs :smile:

Wow! Beyerdynamic & Grado, high-end stuff bros

My colleague just bought a pair of beats by dr dre headphones and swears by their quality and such.

Tested it on some drum and bass tracks, pretty muffled when the volume was turned up.

Conclusion, you are probably getting 30% worth from its price tag, the rest are just paying from endorsement.

beats by dr dre imo is a fashion statement, quality you get doesn't justify the price tag. :|

parrot zik is another fashion and "high-tech" headphone, sounds quality for me is just so so, for the price you can go with any beyer or audiotechnica, or my favor denon D2000 for the price tag

Can go to Jaben at Aldephi or Stereo at Plaza Sing/Ion. They have lots of headphones that you can try. Bring the music that u like and the system (Ipod or whatever) that u will be using. Try until u like then decide to buy there or elsewhere. No obligations.

Warranty for bayers are not honoured from Jaben as they got their stocks from other sources.

Not verified info but something I read when reading from forums.

Best is to go ask. If warranty issue is important to you then it is best to be satisfied yourself. In any case, the item should also meet your expectations sonically, aesthetically, monetarily and emotionally before purchase.



The journey to the end should be fun as well. Just my two cents.

For commutes and travel, I use IEMS (westone ES3X). At home I use my Ultrasone ED9 .

very nice custom IEM, the clear silicon looks like silver in this pix, u did it locally ?



had no chance to try out the ultrasone but heard many pro-audiophile love it towards its characteristic

I did my IEM at Jaben a few years back.

The ultrasone is extremely quick and detailed, some would feel its fatiguing ( I personally find it good with a warm tube ... )

I'm using the Audio-Technica ATH-M50. A little big, but such clear and natural sound.

I used my Bose AE2 when I was travelling more frequently on biz trip, helps keep out noise to a certain level during flights.

Nowadays, usually on my Westone 4Rs, for it's portability, most balanced sound IMO.

Back-up pair of ATH-CKM55 for ICTs.

Using Sennheiser RS180 to watch late night football, so as not to disturb my wife. Its open-back cans giving a more natural feel like you're in the stadium.

Also have a pair of 2nd hand ATH-PRO700-MK2, which I use for watching movie on my MacBook Air, not recommended for long periods of use due to the ever-tight headband.

Last but not least, Plantronics Backbeat Go for driving and jogging :)

Another hobby. I started with home audio, then when my "sound" room was commandeered for my childrens' study room, I moved to a smaller system then to headphones.



Tried portables but just does not really fit me as I find that I do not listen on the go much.



Returned to home rigs. Love the sound signature of ATs. Now mainly using an AT W5000 driven by its companion amp the HA5000 fed by either an ipod digital out via Wadia 170i or Marantz CD transport through Musical Fidelity DAC.

I use Grado SR60 and SR80 (both non "i"), Koss PortaPro, TDK BA100 and a series of high-quality Chinese IEMs which I conducted MO at Echoloft and XtremePlace forums. I use both Fiio E06 and E11 portable amps, as well as an Asus Xonar Essence STX headphone amplifier for computer.



I just borrowed my friend's Beyerdynamic T5p to try over the weekends.

These are few below S$300 dual-driver IEMs. There are plenty more.



Bass is an acquired taste. Preferences vary from person to person, so I cannot advise you which IEMs have better bass. You might want to audition them first.

One thing I like about JVC is they don't make expensive rubbish. Their products are very reasonably-priced and last longer than the rest. Remember JVC portable stereo cassette players? I had one of those and it outlived a Sony Walkman, Aiwa and Toshiba.
