Advice needed. Just got a SARB021

Advice needed. Just got a SARB021
Hi guys,

Need some advice. Just a a SARB021 a month ago from 1 of the reputable Jap dealer online.

The watch is however running slow, and losing about a min / day.

Anyone can advise what is the best thing /next best thing i should do?

1) Do I need to wear it more often and wait for it to break in?

2) Do I return the watch to the dealer for sending to factory for fixing?

3) Will Thong Sia be able to regulate it since the watch is covered under international warranty?

4) Any other advise?

Will (2) and (3) result in a scratched back case if they have to open up the watch?

Thanks. Really liked the watch but kinda disappointed with its time keeping at the moment.
Re: Advice needed. Just got a SARB021
Star77, firstly, just chill!

The watch is already in your hand so just make the best out of it.

Unlikely TS will honor the warranty as its was not sold by an onshore official dealer like them.

This is a minor risk you have to bear with you buy it cheaper from an online source. You buy it from a local distributor for their goodwill & service.

To overhaul a SARB will be about $50-$60? Depending on where you bring it to.

Monitor it first. Take it easy. If the inaccuracy really bothers you, bring it to places like K2 for a second opinion.

Enjoy your SARB021 in good health. It's my favourite SARB cos 21 is my lucky number!

Best wishes,

Tele
Re: Advice needed. Just got a SARB021
Thanks, have visited K2 when I suspected the watch was slow and Mr Goh confirmed it was slower by a min.

He didn't want to regulate for me, not sure why (maybe it will void the warranty since its a mth old)?

he mention its a easy job to regulate and advise I return to the owner or check if TS can fixed it.

Was concern with point 2 and 3 if it'll leave major scratches? I'm pretty new to this hobby and have not gotten my watches open before.

Normally under such scenario, would the dealer do a replacement? Or just send it in for repair?
Re: Advice needed. Just got a SARB021
Wont scratch ur caseback if done by the pros...unless u let me open maybe wil b full of scratches...

Regulatin is easy for them...maybe becoz its too new dats y goh ask u to let the seller do it...

Seller is in Japan :?

Is this considered a defective watch enough to warrant a replacement / refund?
Re: Advice needed. Just got a SARB021
60 bucks is a small price to pay for another 5 years for good running condition. Just my personal point of view.

Go to TS / K2 and get it sorted and move on.

Sending it back to Japan and back to Singapore takes time and opportunity cost. I'd get my watch sorted here locally if I were you, so I can enjoy my watch earlier & quicker.
Re: Advice needed. Just got a SARB021
Does it have international warranty ?

If it does, you can try TS. But it's not considered defective IMO.

It's like LCD panels with dead pixels.

Thats what i did for mine. One min slow per day bought new. Brought to k2 to regulate. He rejected.. he usually would if your watch is still under warranty probably because some customers fear their watches get their warrabty voided by having 3rd party watch shops opening them up. I told him i didnt care so he opened it up, checked n gave me two options.

One is simple regulation which he might charge or not charge depending on how handsome u are. Two is he service the whole movement.

I chose the second.

Consistently +3 per day ever since.

Peace / Piece of mind, right? :) glad I had my point agreed.
Re: Advice needed. Just got a SARB021
If you will, go back to K2 and have the movement overhauled for around $50 to $60.
Re: Advice needed. Just got a SARB021
Thanks for the helpful opinions. :)

Know how long it takes for the overhauled or do I have to leave the watch there for a couple of days for k2 to do it?

Gonna cost more $ than servicing the watch :o
Re: Advice needed. Just got a SARB021
Can try Thong Sia as well, maybe got international warranty. If not can ask for a quote as well. TS can do water resistance check after servicing as well.

Ya. Called up TS and they told me to bring the watch down.

Will bring down and see how.

Problem is they do not open on Sat.

Quite hard to fit in the timing for a office uncle like me.

Office Uncle! Like most if us. Good luck with your 021. I'd bring to other places than Thong Sia, their job ain't the best but they charge a premium.

If I were you, I will send it to TS since it is under international warranty.

My 021 was sent there for repair, once they confirm the warranty, no question asked.

Cheers,
Re: Advice needed. Just got a SARB021
Thanks guys. Have brought to TS and they regulated it for free under warranty.

Watch is running great so far and it only lose about 4 secs after 2 days.

:)

Great news, so TS didn't disappoint.
