Hi guys, wanted to seek advise if anybody has gone through such an unlucky experience.



I was involved in a chain collision. I'm the first car. By law or by right, what's the claim procedure ?



Do I claim from the car behind or the last vehicle ?



The situation I'm in now is a MY bus bang into a SG car then the SG car banged into me.



My workshop is asking me to claim OD as they don't want to chase after the MY company.



As I'm still overseas, I haven't got a chance to seek advise from my insurance company yet. So just asking around.

I was involved in one back in '09. I was the first car as well. Mine was a 4-car collision. What work shop told me was I claim against the one behind me and he against the one behind him and so on.



The workshop took care of everything for me. Some lawyers were engaged by the workshop/ insurer. But all I got was 2 letters that amount to updates o. The proceedings.



Basically the workshop did the insurance claim, legal proceedings, repairs and replacement car for me.



I didn't need to do anything.

Nowadays the workshop can handle everything. By right claim the person who banged your butt directly.



If for some weird reason the other party can claim from you, you will be notified.

First car will claim from second car and so on.

No more such law that last car will bear all cost unless it is really last car fault.



Dun think so much since you are the first car.

Let the insurance guy settle.

Ya agree to all your comments. The only thing I find weird is why my workshop is saying they can't process third party because there's a MY car involved.



They are seems to be worried that the car/insurance company behind blamed the MY bus and they can't chase for the claim from the MY bus.



Their advise for me is claim own policy first then let Insurance company handle which puzzled me. Why can't they claim the car behind me and let them settle their own with the MY.

Change another workshop. Cos 3rd party can ho any workshop.

1st car usually is straight forward.

Think workshop is scare of the long draggy procedure.



I was hit by 1 joker in mar this yr and till now, the case is still now closed yet.

If your current workshop do not want to handle due to Msian car invloved, change to another workshop.



Get those big scale workshop like Ethoz to do the claim.

They should have no problem.



Btw, your NCD might be held back when you renew your insurance if there is any oustanding claim which is pending.

Yup.

I was banged frim the back in Mar, renewed my insurance in Jun. Knn. 20% as the case not close becos the other joker said I spun and hit him instead.



The insurance is not funny man

Claim from driver of car that was just behind your car. If it is a Singapore registered car, no issue on insurance claim. If it is an overseas registered car, I will just ask for compensation on the spot.
