Seiko Sumo vs Tuna

Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
Hi,

would like to ask for some opinion from fellow seiko fanatic.

I am currently eyeing the sumo & tune SBBN0015/0017.

Cant make up my mind.

a part from the price, what makes you decide on one and not the other.

Thanks
Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
Tuna

Because you will eventually want to own one. So dont waste time.

Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
I'm also eyeing on these 3 watches as well. What I did was to try all 3 watches to see which one I like better on my wrist.

I tried the black Sumo and SBBN017 at Big Time, Blumo and SBBN015 at Skywatch.

The watch that "wowed" me is the black Sumo, it's like what I read online, it's dressy, the case is full of contours, well built and what I observed is that the dial and bezel are really deep jet black, nice. The Blumo at Skywatch was covered with plastic, so I didn't really get a good feel of it.

For the Tunas, I prefer the SBBN015 as I like the black bezel and the brushed shroud better. However, they are not automatics

So, I hope to get a Sumo one day...may be with my year end bonus ;)
Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
the Seiko Tuna with its shroud design is arguably Seiko's most unique looking watch.

Agree. Get SBBN015 or SBBN017. Unique Seiko tunas and always ready to wear.
Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
Wow, thanks for the confirmation.

I shall go Big Time to take a closer look at the tunas

Thanks
Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
Get the Sumo first if you've neither watch. Both will hold their value well so you'll have no real trouble flipping them BUT the Sumo is very very comfortable on the wrist. Also it's an automatic... And most WIS will tell you that between a quartz and an auto, you should go with an auto.

I have had 2 Sumos and they're among the most frequently worn of all my watches and among my faves. There are some very well written pieces online praising the design aesthetics of a Sumo.

However, that being said, the Tuna is in a class all it's own. If you've never worn a chunky watch, you may not be used to how high the watch head sits.

But I don't have any quartz Tunas as I'm afraid that if I start with that, it will open the quartz floodgates and I'll degenerate from a watchslut to a watch boarder.:grin:

Incidentally I just picked up an Emperor an hour ago... So I have my Tuna now, but now quartz. Yay!!

Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
Thanks for the advice Qiasomodo :)

All of my watch are automatic except my G-Shocks.

And most are big :)

That why I cant decide between the Sumo & Tuna.

While Suma has a very good movement, Tuna's chunk caught my eyes.

I know that in the end, I will be getting both of them just dont know which to start first.

I'll go try on both n let watches talks to me.

Thanks again

Don't blame us, as you will be poisoned. If you are not poisoned, give yourself some time because you are not ready to be a Seiko collector yet.

Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
Start with a sumo, graduate to an SBBN 015/017, then a SBBN013, then a SBDX001, then the SBDX011. After all that, you can start looking at the LE SBBNs, SBDXs and various 6159s. Afterwards, move to the SBDBs before finally settling down on the SBGAs...

100pcs LE

Launched early 2010 if I m not wrong

Commemorative watch. Non diver nor dress.

For the past 1 yr, it surfaced once.

Managed to locate 1, but in discussion due to many issues.

Google told me it is spring drive spacewalk, RRP US$28000.

Not sure how much the price escalate, but even if at RRP, not many people can compete with u.
Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
If this Seiko costs US$28k, I don't think there is any competitor for bro ivan out here.

Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
I am a newbie here.

Very keen to own a Sumo but the price here seems to be too high for me. Look around internet seems to be able to get better bargain there. Can the senior brothers here advise which website is reliable for me to buy?

Many thanx!!

Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
Both are amazing pieces

But get the Tuna first, then if you don't like it flip it for a Sumo.

Sumo has amazing quality and versatility for its price. Still one of my favs till date.
Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
I'm also caught in a jam...

Love the build of the Sumo... But love the movement in the MM300... Is there a MM300 with a signed crown like the Sumo?
Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
I prefer the Sumo. Its a very versatile piece that will fit most occasions if you are a one watch man.
Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
Both watches are nice but I'll definitely get the sumo first.
Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
Tuna for me, my other divers already fill a similar role like Sumo, a dressier diver...if regret tuna still can flip for minimal loss since it's always in short supply as well..
Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
I like the tuna but gotten the sumo as my 1st seiko watch first as I believe sumo can be a daily watch to be wore as compare to tuna. Next will be mm300. Tuna will get it 1 day.
Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
I love the Sumo. The design and build quality is top notch.
Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
sadly to say, i could not resist and got a sumo as well, now to see how long i can stave off the mm300 poison..
Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
Get both.
Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
sumo for the win!!
Re: Seiko Sumo vs Tuna
I tried both he sumo n tuna at big time some time back. Somehow the sumo resonates with me more. But it looks too similar to my sub.

Value for money wise , Sumo for me. I bought the black dial immediately after the blue. They are really a joy to wear.
