Similar watch to sKX007 and MarineMaster

Similar watch to sKX007 and MarineMaster
Hi guys

Is there a diver similar to SKX007 and the MarineMaster and middle of the range between SKX007 and the MM ?

i mean in terms of the appearance and price
Re: Similar watch to sKX007 and MarineMaster
Not exactly the same in design , but the Sumo SBDC001 or Stargate SKZ325K1 is worth a look .
Re: Similar watch to sKX007 and MarineMaster
That should be the Sumo and Tuna SBBN015 ?
Re: Similar watch to sKX007 and MarineMaster
both sumo and stargate are big watches, i have small wrist lor

IS there any other watches ?around the 40mm diameter :D

Considering you have a small wrist , the SKX007 is a good choice & a good Seiko Diver .
Re: Similar watch to sKX007 and MarineMaster
Also the SBDC007 (aka Shogun) slots almost exactly 1/2 way between the two, at roughly US$1,100. Titanium construction and a more 'normal' dive-watch appearance, only thing is it would've looked so much better with Samurai or MM300 hands, rather than the current Monster's hand-set. *shrug*

I have small wrist too. I used to think I cannot wear big watches. Then I went to try the Monster, think 40-42mm, there is no looking back. :D
Re: Similar watch to sKX007 and MarineMaster
The red, brown and black sardines has rubber straps... Good for small wrist. Price is between MM and 007.

Another solution for smaller wrists is to use Nato Zulu straps.
Re: Similar watch to sKX007 and MarineMaster
surprised no one mentioned to try the monster series? :)
Re: Similar watch to sKX007 and MarineMaster
well, monster certainly doesn't have much similarities with skx007 or mm300 aesthetically
Re: Similar watch to sKX007 and MarineMaster
Monster dont look nice to me , i prefer steel bracelets not rubber or nato straps lor

Look like there is no mid range diver look like SKX007

How small is your wrist?

The sumo looks big but with the curved lugs it is a very gd fit on smaller wrists.

It's much more comfortable to wear than the skx007.
Re: Similar watch to sKX007 and MarineMaster
SRP 227, 229 series. Slightly more than an SKX, hacking, 4R36 movement.

I imagine you are looking for a movement that's in between and the new generation monsters are another choice. If not the SARZ Seiko 5 series using 4R movements are another choice and is in the low $200 onwards and are classy too.

If you are looking solely at price range as a gauge, the gap is huge and hence the recommendation of the sumo by bros above.

BTW, seen an SRP 233 on a woman's wrist (def less than 6in wrist) and also the mm300 and they look fine.

Do a mod to your own personnal preference with parts from SKX007 and MarineMaster
Re: Similar watch to sKX007 and MarineMaster
Example of a pretty good mod

No $400-800 classic-style automatic dive watch from Seiko off the top of my head. The SBDC007/9 Shoguns are close, but roughly $900. The 6R was the next step up from the 7S for a while, and the only divers with them are the Sumo and Shoguns.

There are quartz ones which have been close, the 7C43 diver and SBCM023 HEQ diver, but both are out of production.

If you can find one, the Noah Fuller Tsunami is awesome. The new Typhoon Jake B's putting out also looks good, can't wait to see the finished product.

Citizen has a few good close ones: the BN0000-04H 300m or BN0070-09E 300m divers. Note the BN0070 one does not have a bracelet version, only rubber strap.

Orient has the M-Force divers, but definitely not classic styling anywhere on those.

I'm sure there are Euro's / Russians / Chinese which are in that range, but can't think of any off the top of my head; sure someone else here will chime in. ;)
Re: Similar watch to sKX007 and MarineMaster
hey may i ask if the skx007 luminous paint is the Lumi Brite ? :?:

Lumi Brite is the latest development in Seiko luminous paints
Re: Similar watch to sKX007 and MarineMaster
Yes, lumibrite's been around since like 1993 or so.

However, do note that write-up on Seiko is likely just spin: http://www.thewatchsite.com/index.php?topic=13418.0" false;

thanks for the reply. i was thinking if skxoo7 lume is inferior to MM300's lume paint
Re: Similar watch to sKX007 and MarineMaster
I'm not sure, but I don't believe the lume differs between the two, at least from a chemical make-up POV. It does make a difference basis how think the application is and I think it'll appear brighter given more surface area, iirc.

Tho you're not going to be considering the MM300's basis lume alone, the MM300's lume is supposed to be brighter than the SKX007's... but if you're after Seiko lume, you need a FrankenMonster.
