From PhotoShop to Reality :)

From PhotoShop to Reality :)
I've always wanted a nice white dialed Seiko Automatic Tuna....

But as Seiko didn't manufacture one, I played around in Photoshop to come up with a modified SRP227 Sardine with parts from a White Stargate.

After some time, I managed to get the necessary components and off to K2 I went. Mr.Goh did an amazing job, handed him the parts last Thursday. He did his magic and had it ready for collection yesterday :D

I'm really happy how this turned out :D

The mod turned out nice , looking good 8-)
Re: From PhotoShop to Reality :)
Thanks man.

I was not sure if I should also use the Black outlined Stargate Hands in the Sardine, they would definitely be more easy to read.

But in the end I decided to just change the Dial and Chapter Ring, and keep the Sardine Hands. So far, I don't have a problem reading the time :D

Re: From PhotoShop to Reality :)
Beautiful, did you get the dial separately or changed out from an existing stargate?

I actually purchased this Modded White Stargate from the SCWF Trade page.

Than had Mr.Goh transfer the dial and Chapter ring across to my SRP227 Sardine :D

Now, in addition to the white Sardine, I also have a "unique" Stargate with the SRP227 Dial :D

But, one BIG problem with this "hybrid" Stargate, is that because the SRP Chapter Ring is so high, the Crystal now sticks up, above the Bezel. I plan to get Mr.Goh to remopve the Chapter ring at my next visit, so that he can push the crystal down fully

Re: From PhotoShop to Reality :)
Maybe you can explore replacing that bezel, so I can have it.

Re: From PhotoShop to Reality :)
Stargate's bezel got no alternatives... :(
Re: From PhotoShop to Reality :)
For curiosity sake (only), what are other Seiko dials and chapter ring set can be swopped with the Sardine's original?
Re: From PhotoShop to Reality :)

Nice mods. Which chapter ring u used for the yellow sumo dial?

Do you need to tweak the chapter ring?
Re: From PhotoShop to Reality :)
The modded sardine look really good, talk about Limited Edition, this sure take the cake!
Re: From PhotoShop to Reality :)
I use SKX chapter rings with some spacer. Not perfect but still acceptable.

Thanks, I wonder Mr GOh of K2 can do the spacer thingy for the chapter ring?
Re: From PhotoShop to Reality :)
The challenge of using SKX chapter ring is in fact the spacer. Not like SKX, baby tuna crystal gasket sits on its plastic chapter ring not the SS case itself. The spacer works as the foundation for the gasket. Another similar mod is from this ebay item from Germany. I guess this guy uses some silicon or epoxy glue to fill up the gap.
