Is SBBN015 Quartz Tuna worth buying

Is SBBN015 Quartz Tuna worth buying
Hi Brothers,

I am new to Seiko JDM and would like to ask current owners and ex-owners of SBBN015, is this quartz operated watch worth buying? Thanks in advance.
Re: Is SBBN015 Quartz Tuna worth buying
Good.

Buy.

Re: Is SBBN015 Quartz Tuna worth buying
I would say, don't just look at it as a quartz watch but as a whole watch with the finishing, the shrouded watch case.

I think Tunas are the most unique piece of watch case design from Seiko.
Re: Is SBBN015 Quartz Tuna worth buying
The SBBN015 in my opinion is a great watch , you get Quartz accuracy with all the Tuna watch features . Most guys prefer a Automatic , as Quartz watches can be considered to be a watch without soul . But i like Quartz watches , as i do mechanical watches . Check out the Sumo mechanical Divers SBDC001 , they are also a great piece :)
Re: Is SBBN015 Quartz Tuna worth buying
During my initial quest for tuna, my first choice is the sbbn015; due to its overall toolish looks, eg, full stainless steel with matching bracelet, black ceramic bezel tt matches the black dial, nice domed crystal, damn bright indexes tt last long nite long, etc.. Of coz not forgetting its reliable quartz movement which is abt < +10sec per month on mine previously (iirc)..

Do however note tt rust is known to occur on the watch case which r covered by the shroud..

Hi Bros,

Tks for your kind inputs. Now I own only autos such as SKX007J, Blue Sumo, SBDX011 PVDed Tuna and SBDX001 MM300 etc etc. So far I am quite happy with the autos, I just worry I might regret on the quartz.

For me, I flipped my sbbn015 after a cpl of months as I realised tt I prefer mechanical than quartz (personal preference)..

Thus u may nid to really consider wat u wan in ur collection..
Re: Is SBBN015 Quartz Tuna worth buying
Hi Bros,

How I wish Seiko come out an auto SBBN0xx. For a quartz I may end up flipping it wthin months like Dragonboat02.

Not forgeting 6309 in 7549-7010 tuna casing. Custom.
Re: Is SBBN015 Quartz Tuna worth buying
When seiko come out with auto SBBN0xx, expect it to cost like the auto tuna. If u like auto, you can change the heart of the sbbn007/015 like some of the bros here did.

How I dont know.

If u no budget but really really like to own a tuna. Buy the quartz first. Enjoy few mths and save some money, then u flip. And then buy an auto.

When u bored again, then flip and buy GS.

When u bored again, then flip and start from zero all over again.

I had been a Seiko Automatic "snob" for the longest time. I had a prejudice against Quartz movements, thinking that true collectors don't like them.

But with age came clarity

Now this SBBN015 has pride of place in my humble collection :D

Best thing to do is try one one, than you will know if its for you or not ;)

Aint that true .
Re: Is SBBN015 Quartz Tuna worth buying
NIce watch Manoj.

I already have the Emperor Tuna. I just considering whether to add another steel-looking tuna.

By the way, is SBBN015 battery change easy or it has to be send back to Japan?

Yup, battery change shouldn't be an issue.

However, if you want it to still be dive-worthy, you'd want to give it to a shop with the necessary tools. I'm sure a place like http://www.jwwatch.com" false; would be able to do it, but you might as well give it to TS then, they'd be able to do gaskets, etc.
Re: Is SBBN015 Quartz Tuna worth buying
WOW ! ! !

If you're starting with the Emperor, and now thinking of getting the SBBN015, you're working your way down ;)

Jokes aside, I'm hoping to one day work my way up to the Emperor. :D

As for the Battery change, I've not had to change mine yet, but I don't think you need to send it all the way to Japan for this to be none. I'm sure Mr.Goh at K2 should be able to do this without issue.

Cheers

OT, but I can't never allow photos to be uploaded directly to the forum :) There's so many free services around, why should I pay for that.

In Singapore, try Big Time @ Sims Ave, sometimes they have these JDM watches available.
Re: Is SBBN015 Quartz Tuna worth buying
It is very personal. I almost landed myself a SBBN015 but had 2nd thoughts coz its a quartz because I would think mechanical watch will last longer if taken care well (its personal). So ended up I got a limited edition Golgo13 FieldMaster SBDC021 which many says its a fake Tuna. Best of all I got it cheaper than the SBBN015 :D

If you change the bezel insert and dial similar to the Tuna's one...hmmm...i think it would look very much look like one.
